To be fair his positional play is abysmal, i understand Flick didnt want to gamble on it in a match like today

In chaotic games he should be better suited at CAM than Frenkie. At this point Frenkie offers neither defensive work nor ball retention. At least Gavi can fight for loose balls.

Question still remains however, Gavi's best role in Flick's team. He might have a hard time starting the biggest games in spring even if he's fully fit.
