In chaotic games he should be better suited at CAM than Frenkie. At this point Frenkie offers neither defensive work nor ball retention. At least Gavi can fight for loose balls.

Question still remains however, Gavi's best role in Flick's team. He might have a hard time starting the biggest games in spring even if he's fully fit.

Gave up being a Midfielder long ago and became Scrappy doo.

All passion but nothing else. Terrible positioning and lackluster on the ball.

He has been a warm body with Napoleon syndrome for a very long time.

All the fans and the coaches have done is cheer on his idiotic hard man acts and getting yellow cards constantly, meanwhile he forgot how to play with his feet now, he is a footballer, right? All he seems to do these days is display his insecurity about being small, his performances have nothing to do with football anymore.

This is why that behaviour should have been discouraged from the start because he's forgotten he is a football player seemingly. No manager has guided him towards learning tactically and technically and have let him do his Scrappy Doo act and applauded the 'passion'.

What we have now is a previously very promising young player who has been reduced to being a shit version of Gattuso, because he and the coaches, instead of demanding actual ability from him, happy clapped along with his bullshit.

Hopefully now it stops but I'm not optimistic as long as the fans continue to blindly cheer for the fake hard man act. He had/has potential IF he actually develops and tries to improve his football, but not this, not this.

There's no point subbing him on in games where you need a goal as he's not exactly well-known for providing a killer pass or being a goalscorer.

At some point you need to be able to provide more than just hustle.
