Isn't Gavi agent Ivan De La Pena, so Puyol too.

On one hand they have close club contacts so are just trying to get the best deal.

On the other hand, they took Adrian and Eric Garcia to City so I am sure that is the angle that they would be pushing on Gavi.

Tough decision coming up (to break the financial structure set to keep Gavi), but we absolutely need to keep Gavi. Even if it means sacrificing Kessie (or FdJ).

He should be in the same wage bracket as Pedri whether they like it or not. The bigger miscalculation the club made was with the renewal of Fati. I love the kid and all, but his wage renewal was overestimated. So sad he got another long term injury after it.

But look at this.
FC Barcelona total first team minutes
Ansu Fati = 2546 (LaLiga+CopaDelRey+CL+SuperCopa) / 3 Seasons
Gavi = 2158 (LaLiga+CopaDelRey+CL+EL+SuperCopa) / 1 Season

Gavi will end this season having played more first team minutes than Ansu. So let's pay him as one.

Sure but neither Garcia nor Adrian were even close to the first team (let alone established there) when they've left so not the best example imo. Agents clearly play a role in negotiations but in the end it's always the players who decide where they'll play.

I don't think we should break the wage structure to keep any player. If someone will demand more than the club think he's worth they'll let him go like it happened with Ilaix. But I don't think to keep Gavi or Araujo we'd need to break our wage structure.

All media reports/leaks are part of public negotiations that happen all the time. Club's first offer will never be the most they are willing to pay to the player. We can call it lowballing but it's just a usual negotiation tactic. Players/their agents know that so it's obvious they won't accept it. But as long as they continue to negotiate we have nothing to worry about imo. Tbh it would probably be the best to wait with Gavi/Araujo's renewal talks until the end of the season so they will stay focused on important games ahead of us. OTOH I also think they are not really too worried about what's going on in negotiations and their priority is still to stay at the club.

Also don't see signing Kessie or Christensen having that much impact on negotiations with Gavi or Araujo. They have already set their price and those are comparable more to the wages of players already at the club (they can fairly compare their role with). For all we know Kessie could come in and instantly become our best midfielder. It's unlikely but stranger things have happened. And in that case he'd deserved to be paid more than Pedri, Gavi or FDJ.

Should have been renewed long ago before stock grew.

Poor from club.

Gavi has to stay but for Araujo if wont renew sell him and get in a top CB to partner Christensen.

If be wants too much money sell him.

Fati & Pedri who were/are considered builder talents and the future if the club renewed for around 4.5-5m euros net, those are very reasonable offers, If the club is giving him & Araujo around the same offer minutes a .5-1m here and there.

It's a reasonable offer.

Not really down to club to sell him as other clubs would pay 50m anyway.

It is more about Gavi deciding he wants to leave if they are talking up spending hundreds of millions on likes of Haaland and offering big wages to free transfers.

Doubt very much Gavi is wanting more than Pedri or Fati but he and agent will know what can get at other clubs and wont take the line of 'financial constraints' from club to renew for less.

Hindsight is always 20/20. Not to mention there's still an issue with his age and professional contracts.

No it is not even remotely hindsight.

It was clear long ago these players were going to offer a lot and needed their situations sorted.

His age is as irrelevant months ago as it is now when they are struggling to renew.

They dropped the ball and will cost a lot to sort it.

More like not having the foresight than anything.

They were the agents of Bartra when he left too. Changed his agent later
Also, Laporta has kind of screwed them in Eric Garcia deal. Blocking the transfer in January 2021 and offer less money when he came. Was right decision for the club but something the agent will have to consider.

Then there's still the issue of our salary cap. It's really easier said than done.

Renewing Gavi shouldn't be seen as a problem but an advantage.

La Masia has brought a solution quicker than anticipated to fulfill an integral squad role.

Someone who saves the club from having to spend millions in the transfer market to find a first team midfielder.

We have been looking, and failing, for 7 long years to replace Iniesta and Xavi, and now for less than 10m transfer fees we may have found it in Gavi and Pedri. 17 and 19 years old.

Incredible- and fortunate.

They can renew in way for salary increase to kick in from summer when they have all the money to do it.

Should have been done long time ago.

Not sure it works like that. Neither should his agent be okay with him being rushed into a premature deal. And well, age+professional contracts is still an issue - see Fati if I remember correctly.

Anyway, Gavi will get his Ansu/Pedri deal. Hopefully that's enough for him.
