6 - Gavi

Gavi's passion and effort is admirable, but him being positionally undisciplined and unproductive isn't.
Coming back from a serious injury so will give him time obviously, but I had the same issue with him before the injuries.

At some point you have to be able to provide more than "passion and heart" to help the team unless you want to pay him to be a cheerleader.

Yeah.
He is a bit polarising player for me. Sometimes you can watch him and call him world class or world class potential, others you wonder why he is on the pitch.

Something about his game has irked me since 22/23. He usually passes it to the nearest player in attack, just very unproductive, after making too many touches on the ball. In defense he makes good interceptions but also vacates his area too easily, huge holes when it doesn't work out. I don't like how he's evolving as a player
Thats the major issue with Gavi. Like I say everytime. He plays exactly as his debut with the senior team. He literally froze at 17 years old when it comes to football abilities and skills. He has good attributes but those are not enough at all, much more, the big question is why doesnt he improve at all ! We ll see this season.

He has some very nice and cool moments, but if you go back and watch most of his games you'll see the same issues.
Reminds me of a cult hero which the fanbase glorifies for being a warrior despite being mediocre on the pitch.

What annoys me the most about Gavi is that he actually was more disciplined, tried to play more incisive passes or look to create or pass forward when he made his debut, but for some reason decided resorting into becoming a Temu version of a headless Gattuso along the way.

Perhaps the best thing we can take from his performance is the fact that the dreaded ' career ending ' ACL injury doesnt seem to have as much of a negative impact as feared, IF the surgery is done properly.

Gavi looked as quick, sharp, agile and nimble as he has ever done. Good signs for Bernal in the future. Of course, not everyone has the mindset of Gavi though, which has most certainly played a big part in him looking as healthy as ever.

“We had the game under control but we got involved in two poor moves and we have to learn from that,” he told the media.
“The first goal was a stupid thing. We have to clear the ball in that position but that’s football. You have to learn.
“With a man down it’s really difficult, not just against Celta against any team, if you’re not focused what can happen can happen.
“It’s my first start after a year. I’m happy with that but obviously the thing was to get three points and we didn’t get that.”

Had good and bad. Had some eye-catching moves but ultimately not effective in progressive passing. Which you need to be with Olmo and Pedri ahead of you to serve to and then let them conduct.

It's only been sparse minutes with Casado, but they haven't defined their roles together yet. And also Casado has a poor game, but I'm curious how much of that was through the Gavi pairing. As neither could progress the ball as Pedri done deep.

Has no position in the current squad. Shoeing him in, means moving Pedri our of his comfort zone.

Gavi should be a sub this season, nothing more, or he has to learn to play as a more advanced player.

He's obviously good at something but still not sure how to translate it into winning a football game.

Needs to be more of a larger, coherent meaning to his habits on the pitch.

Shocking decision at minute 70. Fermin ( i think) was running practically alone to his left running towards their keeper and Gavi decided to pass sideways.. whatever limitations dejong has Gavi is basically him on steroids .. thankfully he doesnt ear a lot for now.

He seems to be aware of development he needs to undergo. Less of headless chicken and charging into player and more of trying to make cohesive mf.
