fuck that , i would much prefer if he'd join now

he can play in la liga and give iniesta all the rest he needs so we can go all in the CL

thats a good point actually about giving Iniesta a rest so hes fresh for the CL. i'd much prefer Coutinho joining asap but i think its tied to the Keita deal for Liverpool, there are rumours though Keita is pushing for a move this january so we'll wait and see

Don't get your hopes up, I've seen this exact same dog and pony show on numerous occasions in the past.

The chances of getting Coutinho in January are slim to none.

Liverpool might just say "fuck you" in the backdrop of all these rumors and Nike website thingy just to show their defiance and who the boss is.

barca won more in 2015 than liverpool has in last 20 years so I don't think they're in any position to show defiance. At worst, they unsettle their own player further and slip further down the PL. we are doing rather alright without coutinho :p

Nothing from Liverpool, Barca, or Nike. Pretty much confirms Coutinho is coming.

Liverpool/Nike would've released some sort of statement by now regarding Coutinho...unless the move is indeed happening. Which it is. Just a matter of time before this thread is moved...

Either Bartomeu is doing some dirty tapping up as usual or this is gonna be announced in the next few days.

As promising as the recent info is, the "believe it when I see it" philosophy is still the safest. Lest we forget how many times we've read "ULTIMAS HORAS" this summer in a number of different transfer cases. Board could still easily fuck this up.

As for the lineup we use if/when he's here, honestly I'd love to see how Coutinho and Iniesta play together. I understand that for the most part he'd be playing with Rakitic so Iniesta can rest for the CL, but there's plenty of rotation to see how our two best mids would coexist. I could see them both adapting enough for it to be possible. Iniesta would honestly be fine as a RCM, we've seen him playmake in those areas without difficulty. He would also be fine playing in a bit more of a conservative role since Coutinho can take a LOT of the creative burdens off of him. We saw it a lot with Neymar too where he'd be more content circulating the ball in deeper zones and letting Ney attack hard than trying iso-final pass plays to force chances when our only other creative player is Messi. All in all our ball movement would look much better and Coutinho would help Iniesta/Messi perform to their best.

If we do get Coutinho in January, we should (obviously) be selling Gomes, Rafinha, and Arda without any hesitation at all. Beyond that I'd sell Rakitic for Arthur as we'd need a capable deep lying CM that could possibly start in most easier games so Iniesta isn't overloaded in what will be his Xavi 14/15 season. Aleña should also be promoted to take up the last of the minutes available.

Coutinho/Iniesta/Arthur/Paulinho/Aleña/Busi/Roberto would FINALLY be a midfield rotation worthy of this club and comparable to the best sides in Europe. We'd have all bases covered and no lack of options to control the midfield and attack the opposition.

Edit: forgot about Denis, but honestly I'd have him be a LW/RW sub for Dembele and/or Messi. In the scenario listed above we'd be more than covered in midfield and Denis has the speed, 1v1 capability, and creativity to do well as a winger.

If Coutinho comes Denis would become absolutely obsolete. So would Rafinha and Arda is already not part of Barca anyway!

I agree with most of this. I would be curious to see if we can implement a 4-1-4-1 like Pep did at Bayern, with Busi in Schweinsteiger's role, and with Messi in Goetze's role. We could try it a couple of times in low risk games to see how well we do. The main advantage with this system is that it can transform very fast in a 4-3-3 or even a 4-2-3-1.

Could be nonsense but ..

Liverpool are nearing an agreement with Barcelona for the sale of Philippe Coutinho.

Sportswear giants Nike appeared to confirm the deal was done this weekend after they offered Barca’s 2017/18 kit for sale with his name on the back.

The Bookies have also suspended betting on the Brazil international making the move to the Nou Camp in the New Year.

However, Spanish outlet Don Balon claim the deal will not be finalised until a swap deal for Rafinha is agreed.
