Or this is his third game moving to a new team mid-season and we should be a bit patient?

Or we can obviously jump to conclusions right away. That's way more fun I guess.

I agree but Dembélé showed more in his matches than Coutinho currently has but he was lambasted.

Not bad considering the conditions.

Dribbling not as crafty as Messi/Iniesta/Dembele. Not as fast as Dembele and Semedo.

One of the best long shots in tight spaces.

Drawing any conclusions and rating individual performances (not just for Cou but for all players) when playing under conditions we did today is stupid imo. I think everyone gave their best.

Well we went back to a 4-3-3 for this match, not sure if Valverde is going to stick with it or revert back to the 4-4-2. Even if we stick with the 4-3-3 there is no way Suarez is going to benched. It will be Suarez as an inside forward at LW, Messi false 9 and Dembele as RW. Iniesta won't be dropped either so Coutinho is the odd man out.
Iniesta can’t be dropped. There is no replacement for him and he is playing at a really high level at the moment.

And yeah, I think the 4-3-3 will be played from here on in. Coutinho/Vidal will be used on the right as a stop gap until Dembélé is fit. Paco blew his chance today.

So because other people have been stupid and jumped the gun to their assessment, let's do the same?

I’m just saying that it’s to be expected. Especially after we heard that Coutinho comes into this side and is automatically the second best player after Messi.

I don’t really care to be honest. I just want Dembélé back because our right flank is non existent. Roberto and Semedo are left to do an awful lot there.

Also, Messi and Dembélé have this thing where they swap positions. It creates chaos for the defenders.

Let's see. Coutinho has played three or four games:

First game he came in as a sub and looked really good combining with the team and should have had an assist

Second game he played on the right and was isolated. Not as a RW, but as a RM which isn't his position.

Third game today played at a water polo arena where almost every single player on the team couldn't control the ball and kept losing it. Still had a couple of great involvements and a shot hitting the bar.

Some perspective is needed here which you're lacking right now.

Our system has been optimized (especially under Pep) to such a crazy extent that even a slight change of parameters (Coutinho in for Iniesta, for instance) will result in some fluctuations in performance.

What perspective do you seek? All I said is he lacks positional discipline and that he is no CM. I’m not going to bury my head in the sand and pretend otherwise.

I’ve been critical of Dembélé’s first touch too. In that he tries to do too much with it.
