He was fine. Some of you guys are a bit insane with this over analyzing shit after one and a half match he has played for us, one of which was incidentally for a water-polo team (and still doing good).

Any player that heavily rely on technique and finesse over physicality will suffer in conditions like these. And even with that in mind, he actually did quite well.

But as a way of judging his progress with the team this match is pretty useless. We're none the wiser. But I'm still very optimistic and waiting impatiently for the next match, where the pitch conditions will hopefully be a lot better.

This thread seems tame compared to Dembele's comeback.

So much sarcasm and overanalyzing in that thread and on the chat was a lot worse.

There were a few 'welcome to La Liga' moments for the Brazilian wizard, but that's what made it so great. He was in a dog fight and he'll come out a better man and player.

How could you not be happy with this? 4th game with a new team, playing on a swimming pool against a bunch of UFC fighters.

Ditto. F'n brilliant. That he was able to play this well under those conditions- wow. Frankly, I dreaded every time Neymar received the ball during buildup play as he would grind the attack to a screeching halt. I feel the exact opposite about Coutinho. He's exciting and it feels like something will happen every time he touches the ball. His link-up play is fantastic, already knows where his 1-touch pass is going to go. Love this player.

0:34 F'n brilliant- in a swimming pool while being hacked.

I was mostly disappointed by the heavy rain that ruined the match. Coutinho had good first 25 minutes, fantastic shot which unfortunately hit the crossbar. After that it got harder to play without crossing the ball. Also Digne's poor offensive abilities reflected on both Coutinho and Iniesta.

Salah's incredible form is masking the effect of his departure a bit.

Not sure if this is form anymore. The skill of retaining position under pressure like he has shown doesn't tend to just disappear once you get it.

Liverpool knew he was leaving. Salah-Firmino-Mane played well enough regardless of whether Coutinho was in behind or not.

They are missing him.

Have won one of their last four. Lost at home WBA and away to Swansea while their midfield looked unable to cope with Spurs for lot of the game yesterday.

Against likes of City who the front three can break on and press into mistakes the front line will be fine but games they rely on midfield more they are not the same last few games.
