Don't know - we did see some of the early birds aging/Losing their magic quite rapidly; Rooney, Wilshere, etc

Sure this could happen. Players's bodies (and heads in many cases) can only take so much before they eventually break down. But Rooney still played at a very good level aged 26-28 (he scored career high 27 PL goals when he was 26). And OTOH he had some off the field issues and lost interest in football. Could the same happen to Pedri? Of course. But players have different personalities so we can't predict what happened to one of them will happen to the other as well. Position/playing style/league they're playing in are also important factors. I think it's more likely to expect an inteligent midfielder like Pedri playing in La Liga having a longer career than a striker like Rooney playing in a physically more demanding EPL.

OTOH it's also true that players who exploded at a big stage as teenagers and still keep their level up into their thirties are extremely rare. Messi and CR are the best and most recent examples for that but they're both phenomens. They've done it different ways but they've both done it.

But I don't think we should think too much about what might happen with Pedri in 8 or 10 years because there are just too many unknown factors that will decide where his career will go over the years. We should be more focused on what's the best for him short and midterm (which we can control). He's the best longterm asset this club has right now alongside Ansu and we should treat both of them carefully. Not rush Ansu back after a longterm injury and also not burn out Pedri before he even turns 20.

Is Pedri's tiredness more just a visual thing though and quite possibly mental fatigue more than anything, because surely with all the sports science and data they have available they could tell quite easily if he's physically needing rest.

No doubt there was some towards the end of last season but nothing catastrophic that could harm his longevity. I actually think he sometimes gets stronger as the game goes on, where the first 30 mins he may look a little sluggish and then grows into the game.

Unfortunately, Pedri will not be able to wear 8 until next season if he plays tonight. That is annoying.
