It's funny because Xavi was losing the Gamper a few days before and done the necessary subs to win that match.

Just goes to show how in pre-season you will do the obvious like take off an underperforming Lewandowski but when the real football starts, status overrides.

Friendlies don't mean shit though. Tottenham also put on some scrubs so of course anything can happen.

A game can be decided by one or two moments of genius. Legends like Zidane, Iniesta had these things. Perharps only Messi can produce several genius moments in one game.

That's said, Pedri has to increase his overall volume. Can't be invisible for almost of time and wait for a genius moment. Especially for a midfielder.

Xavi needs to stop positioning him as some kind of second striker so often and allow him the freedom to get on ball.

For one it doesnt suit him and two trying to play of Lewandowski would be difficult for anyone even if fully suited to that role such as KDB.

Lewa doesnt move to open space, cant force defences deep due runs in behind and cant link play consistently at all.

Better off with Gundo higher up behind a mobile striker and Pedri deeper even if that means double pivot with FDJ.

Pedri has to think less when he plays. There are times when a progressive pass opens up and he Arthur Melo's it.

Gavi has to think more.

Just get him on the ball more and allow him some more positional freedom please. As Xavi himself said, you relax when he's on the ball. Our positional rigidity with him pushing up between Raphinha and Lewa work doesn't seem to work that well honestly. Too me, he seems smart enough to be allowed more positional freedom.

Second pass was poor, way too close to keeper and far from RL. First and third pass were good in a vacuum but he should know Abde doesn't have the skill to take advantage of those passes.

Bar should be higher. It´s the first team of Barca, all our attackers need to be able to handle such a ball, including Abde. If not he'll never be good enough to start, as those kinds of creative passes often are what enables us to break down busses like Getafe who defend deep with a 6 man backline.

Of course Pedri needs to go for that pass, if he needs to think about if it's Abde, Fati or Ferran on the receiving end and decide if it's possible, then the moment is over. As Porque says, Pedri thinks enough already and should maybe play more instinctively to fullfill his offensive potential.

Also, Abde himself asked for that ball.

Yeah, experience counts a whole lot. If his level is still the same at 24-25 then it's bad news but it's a long time until then, and lots of games to play and get better.

He is played ok. Just needs to be more consistent, take better decisions on the ball, and improve his physical level. He can't play deep. Especially not against parked buses lol. Deep positions are occupied by CBs and De Jong in such games.

He has to appear between the lines and be decisive when he gets on the ball in such positions.
