8 - Pedri

Don't think that's a real position. Deep lying playmaker sounds like a fifa football manager term. Only example I remember was Pirlo, but he had two physical players next to him, Vidal and Marchisio at the time. Plus a very robust defense with likes of Chiellini and Bonucci back in the day.

Don't think Pedri works in a deeper position personally. His future should be in the AM position. Needs to improve his final ball in these years and he's almost there.

He can play CM or AM. If he plays CM, you need an AM with a good workrate, more of a box to box. For example, don't think De Jong + Pedri + Gundogan would be a very balanced midfield.

The DMC spot, since his recovery and interceptions is good. As well as passing range. Can switch to a double pivot with Frenkie if tactics dictate.

He come through as an AMC/AML, so his natural tendancy was/is offensive, but where he ends up will depend on how he plays the ball without thinking. Been too tentative to pull off the final ball or shot, bar a few spurts over the past few seasons.

Maybe that chances with a greater attacking cast now though, where he can be confident of quick technical passing options and runs around the box.

Now that his football career is over due to injuries , he can fully focus on male modeling.

For someone who isn't all that muscular or built he seems pretty obsessed with the gym culture world.
I really wonder what's going wrong for him not to have built a lot of muscle up to now. I mean he looks alright but an average thin guy with a pump will look like that.

Well, he needs to step up. The amount of praise he gets while being unavailable a lot would end soon. All the barca related media points him out as the focal point in our mf, while to be honest and maybe(finally) xavi understands that fdj is more important right now. Enough of this poster boy bullshit, his direct rival for the spot is gundogan so he better stay fit soon

There is no fixed AML role in which Felix and Pedri are interchangeable. Felix plays like an attacker. If he plays, we play with three attackers. Pedri plays like a midfielder. If he plays, we play with four midfielders.

Pedri might be the smarter player but look at our last two games and see the simple point of having someone up there who is persistently risk seeking, insicive, with a bit of speed and an instinct for goal.

That's never gonna be Pedri's strong suit. Too risk averse, too sensible, overall just not aggressive enough to be playing there.
