8 - Pedri

He played 2.7k minutes last season, which isn't too bad. Frenkie played just 500 more.
Yep, because of the first part of the season where board and xavi tryed to force him out. Frenkie was unavailable only in spring time.
Alarms are ringing, like someone said im afraid that season where he played 70 games took its toll. We should be carefull with lamine and balde.

It's his 5th hamstring injury in 2 years. Over the course of 5 years Dembele had 7 hamstring injuries. Pedri had his first at age 19 while Dembele was 20.

Clearly something worrying going on here.

Stick him beside FDJ and tell him not to run as much but use his range of passing and dictating of game.I jest. But he could.

Rushing him back from injury doesnt help and by reports what happened earlier this year when he relapsed and then same injury again now.

Would guess they are just being overly cautious now due to that happening previously and also the run of games allows for it.

If the club think it is something more long term and going to be persistent issues they need to sell him. Simple.

Would think the staff were cautious already during summer after he ended last season with an injury. He played all friendlies with normal amount of minutes, he had a full preseason where he was fit and could prepare without hindrances. Then he plays two competitive games and becomes injured, and even then, he completed the last game he played.

Xavi better be ultra careful with him from now on, the Dembele treatment really. It's weird though with persistent hamstring injuries for two such different type of players with Dembele very reliant on pace and his hamstring enduring more wear and tear compared to Pedri.

Could this be because of that season where he was overplayed(73 games or something)?

At a young age, overplaying can permanently fuck up your injury chances....
This is exactly what happened. He was too young and got overplayed by Koeman then Xavi. All the national team games didn't help either.

Don't think he was overplayed by Xavi. Koeman in his first season yes, otherwise, no. More like his physique is shite for a footballer. Extremely feeble player and that is probably going to be his downfall. Nobody doubts his talent but it takes a whole lot more than that.

Xavi rushed him back from injury and the problems started when he had the broken up summer more so than minutes from previous season.

Both Koeman and Xavi were guilty of rushing him back.

Rushing back is a form of over playing him when shouldnt really.

Same happened to Fati and Araujo.

He isnt 'feeble' nor has a 'shit physique'. Injuriy problems can start for variety of reasons.. Look at Araujo the best athlete Barca have and getting injuries more than some others to this point also.

The overplaying thing is a nicely fitting story but it doesn't really make sense. If his hamstring had been overworked then, well, he would have gotten a hamstring injury. What doesn't injury a muscle makes it stronger, not weaker. After normal recovery (we're talking days, not seasons), there is no reason why there should be long term effects.

If we were talking about a knee injury or something then maybe it would make sense. In this actual case it sounds more like poor pre-season conditioning to me.

Muscles are never as strong after injury, and he keeps repeatedly injuring the same ones.

There may well be weakness there and also more chances to fuck up recovery and cause imbalances when keep injuring one muscle on one side.

He will strugle to get in first 11 concidering how often is he injured and that know we can replace him more easily.

We just need to get used to playing without pedri.
He is like what dembele used to be, he will never be here through out the season.

He needs to be more like gavi
Some guys are just injury prone. Gavi seems to be one of those guys who is there no matter what. Pedri will be gone when we need him most
