8 - Pedri

He was masterful and truly a joy to watch but we know what he can do when he has time and space. The problem is still implementing his game against tough sides and in intense games.

For a long time we have had a tendency towards players that are great when things are going our way but liable to be useless when things are going against us, when we are getting closed down and torn apart. This is why I generally try to be skeptical when it comes to Pedri.

We have been demolished too many times with elite technical players on the pitch not to learn some kind of lesson.

The class and composure on this kid 😯

He's got an almost Zidane level of making it look easy and effortless. He embarasses defenders without even trying to.

Baller.
He actually moves like Zidane more than Iniesta imo. Elegance touch and look slow like Zidane, but he doesn't have that Iniesta's swiftness. If he is bigger and taller (like Bellingham), he will be exactly a copy of Zidane.

Still different style of play though.
Master class against the team that's 2nd from bottom in the Swiss league is a bit much.
Yeah. If he can play like this consistently throughout of the whole season and vs big teams, he will have a shot at Ballon Dor. That's still a big IF.

In very good form probably playing his best football since joining. If he can manage to stay fit and healthy definitely one of the best midfielders in the world in that number 8 role.

Olmo is the final missing piece.

Really bad game for his standards, poor offensively, some good stuff defensively , but why is he laying down so much.. I know he is better deeper but this was really poor.

Is there any reason that whenever he plays in AM/No 10 role, he always position himself so high? Almost like a 4th forward than a 10.

Because that is what the #10 is instructed to do this year. Barca is running a 3-2-5 or 4-2-4 on offense. Olmo is basically a striker or Raphinha when they play that role too.

I'm not sure. Olmo moves much more in the final third. He is everywhere. Even Torre, who is infinity inferior player to Pedri, also moves more in the #10 role.

Pedri always plays like this when he plays as #10.

Maybe because he's not a 10 and doesn't really know how to position himself there? We have enough depth at the 10 with Olmo, Fermin and Rafa, I don't think Pedri should be forced to 10 often.
