9 - Robert Lewandowski

Strikers are mostly ranked by goals scored, so I really don't get the first paragraph. As you can see, you will be hard pressed to find more strikesrs better than him, and throwing Pele in the mix... c' mon..
Are they? By who, you?

Is Bican one of the best strikers ever then? is Zlatan better than van Basten because he scored more goals (I believe)?

Goals are very important for a striker, but there's a lot more to strikers than that too. The fact you don't understand that is alarming.

Pele played as a number 9 for a decentpart of his career so not sure what your problem with that is.

We can all agree:

1) Lewa is clutch, regardless how isolated he's 80% of the time.

2) People of Polish origin and fanboys think he's the next coming of Pele.

I wish I had this faith in Hristo Stoichkov. He was washed up by the age of 32.
I remember when he joined Chicago Fire. I saw him at Soldier's Field stadium. The other good one was Mlechkov. I think he went to BVB...and won CL(?) but Bulgaria hasn't shown too much since 1994 at NT level.

Here you go, 2020, Chelsea - Bayern scores 7 goals in two matches and Lewandowski has a hand in each.

Chelsea - Bayern, 1 goal and 2 assists, result 0:3
Bayern - Chelsea, Lewandowski 2 goals 2 assists - result 4:1

Now get the fuck away from me, you loser, I think most people are fed up with you. You have an overgrown ego, you think you're the Alpha and Omega, but in reality you're a guy with a complex with his nose in the monitor and his other hand under the table.
You've referenced games against Chelsea. Despite his 'longevity' that is a very short list that you could muster.

I won't debase myself by acknowledging the personal attacks.

I am 35yo. I will not tell you my opinion about Pele or any other player playing in a semi professional era. I can tell you I don't like Lewandowski's play style. Regardless he is on of the beat pure strikers I have seen.

I mean clearly Mbappe is miles better than him in the year 2025, regardless of who has scored more.

His all-round game is poor, and I believe it will cost Barca at some point. It's only March with everything to play for. Some guys are shooting their bolt too early. It shows the very ugly, reactionary side of football fandom that his performances have been below par for a while, then he scores in a big game (to plenty people's surprise I would bet) and it is all 'hahahaha I told you so, ner ner'.

It is FAR too early for this sort of 'I told you so'. He and Barca have won nothing of importance this season.

he's been poor in a lot of games. I watched them. Played well in some too.

And no, I am not saying he's not in his prime. I am saying more than that - that he's a liability and will prove so over the next two months.
Certainly there are strikers out there who would've provided more and been better for any team, not just ours. No one here thinks he's a better player than Mbappe, but he still manages to outscore him. And Mbappe is a proficient guy himself.

Lewa's an old guy for a professional footballer and in the final stage of his career yet manages to be decisive and helps to keep Barca in the race.

Obvious downsides to his game primarily due to age but unlike other old strikers we've had here, he's a hard worker and not a lazy player. Don't think he's a liability. Not even sure what that means in this context. Pretty vague.

Couldn't care less how old you are, I am 42.

The fact you call Pele's era the semi-professional era, and you clearly think he's inferior to fucking Lewy, highlights your ignorance of and disrespect for the history of the game.

One of these dicks who thinks football started in 1992.

His era cannot be compared to today. I never said he is inferior or superior. I said I will not compare players from a semi professional era (that is a fact, not an opinion) to today's machines.

I just think it's funny how some posters flop their opinions based on one evening and one goal.

And as usual the general celebrity acolytes, sycophants are going crazy too.

As I said, tempt ruined a friendship with me due to his parasocial love for a guy who doesn't know he exists . Just have to live with it, I guess.

You're a clown, and Pele is definitely vastly superior. Which is why he's widely considered a top three player of all time and Lewy wouldn't make the top 80 for some.
