Tempt is a really great guy and I like him a lot. Still, I don't know why he loves Lewa so much. I can't think of any reason why he would love him much more than Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Benzema, Suarez, Salah, Van Dijk, or any other excellent player.

Maybe because he's better than most of those players. I like him because he's extremely versatile, prolific, intelligent and inevitable.
Claiming that he doesn't belong to this huge list of excellent players is simply disrespectful. The majority of Football fans rate RL9 above most of these players. His career, records, achievements, peak, consistency and longevity speaks for itself really.
VVD is one of my favourite players ever. I love Salah and admire CR7. Find Neymar very entertaining. So I do like a lot of players in that list.

I didn't say he doesn't belong to that list. I am saying he is in that list and I don't know why you like him more than every one of them. Why him and not one of them?
I think it's unfair to say he's definitely better than guys like Neymar or Benzema or Suarez or Salah. I think the reason most football fans rate him above them (if they do) is because he's universally popular for some reason, as we discussed before. All those other players have plenty who hate them, he does not.
I think what is disrespectful is you claiming he's definitely above guys like Neymar and Suarez. Not for me he isn't.
We can agree to disagree though.

To be fair to Tempt, there's nothing wrong with being a big fan of a player. I don't wanna gang up on tempt here. It's more a curiosity thing why he is drawn more to Lewa than the rest.
I suppose Lewa just plays a way he really loves. Plus he seems a cool and fashionable guy off the park. He seems a much better guy than Benzema or Suarez for sure, but I still prefer them as footballers myself. Not saying Lewa hasn't been excellent over his career or anything.

Neymar is one of the most talented players ever but his career hasn't been the smoothest or the most successful(relatively speaking). Injuries haven't helped.
Very entertaining player. I respect his talent.
Suarez is a great player who has had a great career.
Benzema went from underrated to extremely overrated due to those 2 years at Madrid. The revisionism regarding his career is insane. All his rough patches are blamed on Ronaldo now. The way people whitewash his career is insane. He's class and a very complete CF but wasn't elite for most of his career and Madrid fans used to agree with this.

Tbh I don't care what Madrid fans think, don't usually rate their opinions on football, either the online fans or the real life fans.
I watched Madrid loads back then and I don't agree, he missed chances yes but he did a lot of great work for years for Real Madrid. Otherwise they'd have got rid of him knowing how ruthless they are.
The difference here is that if someone says Lewa is better than those players I say 'fair enough' - as I think that's a reasonable take, even if I disagree. But you take offence if someone says they're better than him. I think it's fair to say they are so I don't think it's reasonable to think it's a wrong opinion to prefer them.
All of these guys have been brilliant players. Lewa and Suarez and Benzema is very arguable, as is Robben/Hazard/Bale/Salah/Ribery etc (and I'd be tempted to add Di Maria in there too actually as great wide men).

Also, it works both ways - people slag off Benzema in the past to elevate what Ronaldo was doing and excuse any poor Ronaldo performances. It's called people having a thing for one player over another. Maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle.
I feel though that Benzema has been a world-class player for over a decade, one of the best of his generation. Same goes for Robert and all the other players mentioned here.

about this, as I said before, maybe it's a breakdown in what we value. I tend to rate players by how good they are at football in general, and their highest peak. Lewa has lasted a lot longer than Neymar and had more success probably. But that just proves he's more professional and fit, and more goal-oriented. Neymar is easily more talented for me.
You prefer more of the stats, achievements, records type stuff, and that is fine with me. But I just go by how good they are at playing football.

I rate RL9 and Suarez above Benzema easily.
For most of his career, he was an upgraded version of Firmino. Benzema might be the most well rounded CF and an excellent team player but he has many clown/donkey moments in his game and became a bit of meme/punchline back in the day. If you go to the social media posts of Benzema renewing his contract in 2018(?), most of the Madrid fans were hating on him and wanted him gone. They watched him week in week out. Under Mourinho, there was a season when Higuain was just as good as Benzema and Jose used to rotate the 2 all season. Madrid were constantly linked to strikers like Lewandowski and Aubameyang. Perez publicly admitted that he tried to sign the former numerous times.
I really rate Benzema's all round game but at some point, we have to acknowledge that his finishing and goalscoring abilities have been erratic, unreliable and far from elite.
It's puzzling isn't it.
Lewy imo is very bland. He'd be a blimp for me had he not played for Barca, kinda like (some random examples of good players) Kane or Ribery, which of course Lewy is better than.
Even Suárez who was a flashier player doesn't have this sort of 'neutral' fanboyism, ie from people not supporting the club he plays for or having same nationality, which we have discussed.
There is a certain theme of the player he likes. Perhaps he prefers to look at certain men because that's what he prefers, which is fine. And this is based solely on the way he himself compares the looks of players he likes (Kaka, Lewy, CR) to those he dislikes. Common denominator.
The most important thing to know is he's more of a player supporter than a club supporter. That's the secret to his mindset.
For example, it doesn't matter that 99% of Liverpool connected people say Messi is best (Trent, Salah, Robertson, VVD, Klopp etc). He is hard coded to dislike and like certain players, that it doesn't matter what others say, even those he otherwise quote and listen to on other stuff.

The primary factor has to be what they do on the pitch week in week out and how they decide games.
Neymar is more talented than CR7 too. Doesn't mean I rate him anywhere near CR7.
The reason Messi is the best is because he delivered the magic week in week out and made the difference consistently.
If we rate players strictly based on ability and talent, Ben Arfa and Quaresma would be elite. I'd argue Thiago Alcantara is more talented than most of the elite midfielders of this era.
It's a combination of everything and what the players produce on the pitch. Neymar is amazing and has great stats but his career graph is very disappointing for someone of his calibre.

I agree, but like I said, Neymar and other great talents did do the business to a high degree. So they have both. It isn't a Ben Arfa situation where there's loads of talent but nothing was accomplished. Thiago did well at Bayern too, so again, he didn't fulfil potential but still showed a good amount.
I do tend to agree though. I just think Neymar's talent advantage combined what what he achieved puts him about Lewa, but that is just my view.
