Bayern smashing buli peasants isn't really much of a benchmark. Not to say that Barca are now strong. We have just couple of games into season. The main thing, where Barca need to get their shit sorted in order no to be humiliated by any semi competent teams is defense. See how our new guys do. Unfortunately we have Busquets, so things may go south anyway, unless Xavi finds perfect system for this fossil to be protected and his flaws mitigated.

I agree that our defense needs to get sorted, but we have a lot of quality there now to work with. Alba can function as LB well enough for now, RB is our weakest spot but at this point Roberto is probably the safer bet unless Dest shows a dramatic increase in form.

Where we will likely lose a game vs top teams in CL is in the midfield though, where we are the weakest by far. Pedri has shown potential but wasnt impressive in big games. Gavi has been, well, uneventful this preseason and season so far. Busquets is probably the worst DM out of any top team and Frenkie has to be consistent.

Xavi has been the biggest issue, but I dont want to get into that right now. His general idea of how to use the very promising squad he has been given has been dreadful. Both not only not that successful but painful to watch. CB at RB is just one of the many problems.
