9 - Samuel Eto'o

Trequartista

The good
well for now I would take Samuel Eto'o to be honest, basically Villa is better on the wings,Samu is better centrally for me,Villa shall be comapred with Henry,if one wants to compare Samuel to someone then its Messi or Ibrahimovic not Villa.
I think Villa has done well in his first season,he could have done better for me but its his first season but sorry anyone doubting the quality of Villa probably didnt see his valencia days,he was then my favourite player in La Liga,I agree he misssed some sitters this season but still helped the team and Eto'o doesnt miss sitters?  you need to watch the last Juve vs Inter game
anyway
David Villa (220 goals in 408 matches with Clubs) ( 44 goals in 71 matches with Spain)
Samuel Eto'o (199 goal in 355 matches with clubs) (52 goal in 101 match with cameroon)
Both had nearly the same amount of goal per match, dont tell me that cameroon are shit because Valencia are nowhere near Barca's level plus samu benefited from being the main goalscorer before the emrgence of Messi 2.0 the goalscoring machine, not comparing, not saying Villa is better because he is not for me but doubting Villa's quality is funny to be honest, and at the end Eto'o will never go back to Barca so I cant get the whining from that dude,Villa at Barca was a change Pep wanted so lets wait and see what will happen

How can you doubt in Villa when he's scored 20 goals in each season ever since he emerged? David is the most consistent striker in the world since 2000 my friends.

But he doesn't score on every 1 on 1 opportunity he gets!!!!!!1

:D i was trying to bring the conversation back onto level plain LOL :D .....its clear as sicccc as eto'o is villa is more suitable for our style of play 2day due to the villa's touch, passing and ability to play 2nd fiddle without his ego taking a bashing...............i would still want eto'o on the team :D

Eto'o touch is fantastic! Have you watched him playe recently? Inter Bayern game was a perfect example of it! He first touch and ball control was immaculate and within such little space! The one-two's in such little space between Eto'o and Sneijeder in that game could have been Messi and Pedro Barca! Also his fantastic instant close control and getting a shot off was great in that game.

I urge you to watch Bayern Inter on tuesday and you'll see this bad first touch you are talking about is non-existent, minus the once in a blue moon bad touches EVERY player has (Messi had like 3 or 4 in one game a few of weeks ago).

It's not an excuse, I'm merely explaining something that you don't seem to grasp when watching the team you claim to support. Villa is not a striker in the same way that Eto'o was for Barcelona - this should be obvious for anyone that has seen Barcelona play over the last 7 years. The tactics have evolved.

How many goals did Eto'o score last season largely playing out wide to accommodate the more in form Milito? Maybe that would be a fairer comparison with Villa the inside-left of this season.

Or maybe it wouldn't since it wouldn't fit with your bizarre anti-Villa agenda.

So you want to question my support of Barca because I tell a few home truths about David Villa that you disagree with? LOL

He was playing out wide under MOURINHO at Inter! He was working like a horse defensively tracking back a lot of the time sacrificing himself for the team! Don't be naive and think that playing out wide at Inter is the same as playing out wide at Barca. I don't see David Villa tracking back all the time like Eto'o had to do under Mourinho! And I don't see Inter playing the high pressing game like Barca do, meaning Villa doesn't have to track back and that when we win the ball he is not deep in our own half, which Eto'o was under Mourinho! Also last season was Eto'o's first season in Italian football, a notoriously difficult league to score a high return of goals in. You conveniently ignored all of that(very fair comparison). Along with the fact that this is NOT David Villa's 1st season in La Liga! You ignore the fact that he is at a better team which creates much more chances than Valencia ever did! A team which he has go to know very well over the 2010 World Cup and the 2 years of 2010 World Cup qualification!

I understand clearly that a striker playing out wide may score less goals than a striker playing centrally(although it never seemed to stop Messi last season and the season before, or even Ronaldinho, or Cristina Ronaldo at Man Utd in that 42 goal season)! But you must understand that when it comes to 1 on 1 opportunities it doesn't matter if a striker is playing out wide or centrally! They shouldn't be missing many of them every fortnight or so like Villa has done, and that is what I am basing my guess on that Eto'o will score more goals than Villa.

Hence the "!!!!!!1", because everything this guy is accusing Villa of Eto'o was also guilty of.

And Messi wasn't nearly the ball dominator that he is now when Eto'o was here.

For goodness sake. Every striker misses 1 on 1 opportunites. But Villa this season has missed A LOT! Any Barca fan can see that! I don't remember him doing the same at Valencia!

Did you actually see Eto'o in his last season for us?
