Adriano can be one of the solutions for Barça in the January transfer window. The club knows they will have to lighten their wage bill if they want the choice of signing and has the option of signing for Roma. The Italian side has moved for the player, who is willing to accept the offer made to him in the summer. Barcelona must decide whether they want to keep him despite only needing him to play a few minutes, or free up a salary by letting a full-back leave - a position that is well covered.
The Brazilian asked to leave in the summer, but Luis Enrique prevented his departure. Roma offered just under four million and the club was referred to the release fee clause in his contract, something no one would pay for the Brazilian who has one more year under contract. Adriano's deal ends June 30, but has the option to renew for a year, which should be confirmed before March 15.
At this time, the defender has no intention of extending his contract, as there are clubs that will offer longer deals, to continue his career. The only question is is whether he leaves in January or waits until June, to leave on a free transfer. In principle, the player wants to play and knows that, after the recovery of Jordi Alba, he will have very few options to play by the end of the season. Luis Enrique also has the option of placing Mathieu in that position, so the club must decide whether he can go.
Roma are ready and waiting for the club to communicate whether they will accept the deal for Adriano.
They feel strong and will lower the offer made in summer. The amounts will not be too high, so Luis Enrique will have the last word and will decide in the next league break in November. What both the coach and the technical secretary know is that the club needs to strengthen the position of left-back for next season. They are looking for a central defender that can play on that side.
Ofc they will lower the offer... the club was dumb to not let him go back then.
