Thats not how things work. If he gets a super star wage and performs badly and/or acts unprofessionally, he'll of course refuse to take a pay cut when offered to another team and no team will pay him a superstar wage if he cant justify such wages. So we're stuck with him for the entirety of his contract.

Also, what is his signing-on fee?

Exactly, we had so many issues selling players like Turan because he refused a pay cut.

Double standards.
You can say both:

1. he is a diva and is causing problems in his club
2. he is so devoted to Barca that he is willing to sit on the stands for 1 season just to come for free to his dream club

When Dembele and Coutinho were doing shit in their former clubs, they were "showing their love and passion" for Barca
Just because they are technical players, loved by fans.
When Rabiot does the same, he is a diva.

If we will sign Rabiot and if he will be mad for not playing, people will say: oh, the diva strikes again!
If Malcom would do the same, people would say: Stupid EV is killing this guy's confidence. Why is he not letting him play?

We can make double standards and 2 stories out of every situation (we are ALL doing it), based on whether you like a player or not.

There is a huge difference. Coutinho and Dembele were under a long term contract and Rabiot has only 6 months left so there is no need for this. Also this is not the first time he does this kind of shit, just look at his relationship with Deschamps. Oh and yes, name ONE part of the game in which Rabiot excels? He is not good in defense, he is not great in attack, he is not a controlling type of midfielder so what exactly would he bring here except his diva attitude?

There is actually only one advantage he has and that's the fact he would come for free but if we give him a big salary we could be stuck with him for a long time. If I remember correctly when you calculated the expense for Dembele you described his salary as a pure loss for our club but now you are not affraid to give 12 or 13 mil salary to Rabiot?

Is he showing his passion for France when he throws his toys out the pram and refuses to be on the reserve list?

He’s a nothing player. He isn’t creative. He isn’t particularly good defensively and he’s also sloppy in possession. But because he’s tall and makes the odd tackle you want him purchased. You’re so blinkered.

In case you didn't know he has shown to be prima donna under every coach he's been playing in PSG. Nothing will change his nature by now. But of course you know all that, you're just purposefully obtuse for the sake of "argument" once again.

My point is:
You guys don't like him as a player and now you don't like anything regarding him.
I was the same regarding Neymar and Dembele.

For example, with Dembele=I don't think that his overall play is good enough for us.
Regarding his bad behavior, that is peanuts.
He wouldn't be good enough with or without his behavior.

With you (imo), it is the same with Rabiot.
You don't like him as a player, and this is why this is bothering you.

For example, if we would hear tomorrow that De Jong has some behavior problems, you wouldn't reply: that's it for me. He is dead for me. I don't want that brat anywhere near our club.
We would probably hear: naah, that is MD's agenda against him.
Or: he is young. He can fix that behavior over years.
Or: as long as he plays good, it doesn't matter (the same as how people loved Neymar while he was here inspite of his shit behavior and off field problems).

Dembele in 2 years: 145M, 13M+13M wages, 13M+13M paid on taxes (gross salary) + unknown amount on bonuses.
197M plus bonuses.
If we sell him for 100M this summer (no one will pay that much probably), we will lose 97M in 2 years.

If Rabiot is 13M, that is, for 1 year:
13M wages + 13M (gross)=26M per season
If we will sell him after one season for 30-50M, we will earn money on him.
If we will keep him for 2 years, we will spend 52M on him.
If we will sell him for 40-50M after 2 years, we will be on 0, or we will lose a few Millions.

If he will stay for more than 2 seasons, that will mean that he is a success and that he has played well on a field.

So, from a financial point of view, his free transfer is still a win-win.
1. if we will keep him=than he is a success, obviously
2. if we will sell him after a 1 or 2 years=we will earn some money or stay on zero

A low risk transfer in financial terms.
Way, way, way lower risk than Dembele or even Coutinho.

Rabiot is pure cancer. Even if he comes for free he is very bad in multiple regards:

(1) He is a mediocre player with a shit attitude and very bad entourage

(2) His salary is too high while being a piece of deadweight that contributes nothing to the team

(3) And most importantly, he will be taking a valuable transfer spot and midfield position at the expense of other targets and prospects such as De Jong, Ndombele, Alena and Puig etc.

There are no two ways about this transfer.

Fuck PSG, Fuck Rabiot.

Exactly. Put Rabiot on 13m and it will also have knock-on effect with wage demands for the rest of the squad.

Dear Lord first it was funny seeing BBZ putting Olympic athletes to shame with his mental gymnastics trying to pimp Rabiot to the forum, now it's just sad. There's a good poster somewhere in him which is blinded by his bias towards Ernie and tall older men.

You forgot that "free" players usually get a huge signing fee when they join a club. For Goretzka to Bayern for exampla it was 10-20M (depending on source). Now with Rabiot i would expect that to be at least in that range too, seeing how much we probably have to pay him to get him here. For Dembele you add "unknown amount of bonuses" and with Rabiot you just ignore every other expense?

You also just assume we can always sell for big money, but what if he sits on the bench most games? What club will pay him his Barca salary? That won't be that easy and we would risk that we can't get rid of him.

Also our wages are already way too high. Everybody knows that and we should start to do something about that instead of bringing in the next player who earns way too much.

Dembele was a big(ger) financial risk yes, i mean we payed almost 150M thats more than Rabiot would cost is in 5 years but the potential payoff was also way bigger so idk why we should compare these 2. If we just look at Rabiot for a second he would be very expensive too over the course of the next years, still not too bad but imo far from "cheap". If this was one of the players you always bash you would tell us how crazy it is to pay him a big salary, that we'll never be able to sell him if he flops etc

Also what are you talking about regarding his character? Like he isn't just striking to get to Barca or anything (and i might add i never thought of that as a good thing at all anyway). Its not the first time there are bad news about him, and not every bit of bad behavior is connected to Barca. He just isn't the super professional hard working bully midfielder you want. Quitting NT just because you aren't on the WC squad at age 23? Yeah that totally was because he wants to join Barca for example.
