Of course it's not his own choice. But Bojan was already part of the first team, unlike Botía.
And Bojan states in almost every interview "I don't want to move to another team, I train with the best every day blablabla..." If a player says those kind of things it's not easy to loan him out.

Zanela is not beeing dramatic, she talks with passion for the fottie defending her opinion the same way without insulting anyone, and u guys keep attacking her each time, most of the times with no reason while many male members write with the same tone ... be happy "a girl" is actually that interested in football contributing with her knowledge about it and a wish to discuss ...

Anyhow d 1000x rather hear her drama over footie related subjects then drama of all those lousy women who bitch over 1000 of things making problems out of nothing ...

Improvin' Perfection!!
Busquets & Pedro are showing maturity at a mid-table club that they wouldn't 've shown had they stayed. oh wait....

With only Puyol and Pique as guaranteed starters in the beginning of the season, there was always room for a third CD. I don't think Pep was really depending on Márquez and Milito this season which was also why the Ukranian was bought. But he turned out to be so bad that an off-form mexican had to be played in puyol/pique's absence and we all know how that turned out. Now Botia could've done the job for us. He would've got more playing time than both Chyg and Marquez and would've done better than both. Playing time wouldn't have been a prob at all. Add to that Pep's guidance and coaching, he would've really developed and been as good if not better.

But yeh...Lets start loaning out and selling our young promising defenders for Chysus the great :bash:

You talk about how Busquets gets/got chances when there were only 4 mid fielders(to fill in 3 positions) ahead of him in the entire squad. Keita in his first season obviously couldn't have been much better than Busi any way, with Busi having all the advantage of knowing the philosophy well in advance. Iniesta as every body knows is a bit injury prone. We did have Hleb last season, but he was signed to be a back up for Henry, to be a winger and not a mid fielder. So yeah, Pep didn't need to foresee much to conclude Busi would get chances here and would develop more here under the tutelage of the modern mid field greats Xaviniesta & also Guardiola him self!!

Pedro did get chances this season but that's because of the utter crap Henry had been in front of goal that he got them. During the pre-season itself, Pedro actually showed the signs that he's ready to step up and he was already 22 and so not much of a risk to depend on him. Even then Txiki did consider the option of loaning him out. Let's see, Pedro had Ibra, Messi, Henry & Bojan(considered more ready than Pedro during pre-season) So he had just the 4 players for 3 positions ahead of him, no wonder Pep ultimately decided to let him stay because it was clear he could get chances

Regarding Botia... He was just 20 years old and was definitely not ready to step up and provide the competition to Puyol, Pique & Marquez. That might be the main reason Pep decided to loan him out and instead gamble on Chyga. It's easy for you to say now that had he stayed he'd have got the chances. But what were the odds Marquez would have been such an ass this season after he had such a wonderful one last time!? Even without Milito, since Pep knew Botia was not ready to step up he always wanted a new CB and so with 4 CBs ahead of him fighting for 2 positions Botia would not have got many chances. We now know Chyga actually needs a LOT more time than expected to settle and that even Messi is a better defender than Marquez, but tell me honestly did you have even a slightest hint it would turn out this way during summer!?

That's a long post, V :p

Botia knows our system just like Busi which would've worked in his favour. Besides, he isn't slow like the Ukranian...hell! no one is. A very slow "defender" from the Ukranian league was always gonna struggle in our system. Pep gambled on him and it's turning out to be a very costly one. As for Marquez he was returning from a long injury layoff, we couldn't 've expected him to repeat his prev form. So, all things considered the onus was on the manager and i'm afraid he got it wrong on this one.

I'm surprised no one posted anything about this kid after the weekend, he's developing into a real nice player. Even though Madrid scored 3 goals last match, Botia wasn't the guy beaten in any of them and there wasn't much he could do to prevent them. He did beat Higuain and Ronaldo to the ball a couple of times and pretty impressive all around. I've watched him in about 5 games now and he has improved quite a bit from the first time I saw him. He's strong, tall, has good pace, and technically sound as well, should be a nice cheap reinforcement for next season and hopefully he'll continue the learning curve at Barca.

IMO, he's one of the cleanest tacklers in the league besides Albiol, Puyol, etc. I'd rather play this guy than Chiggy hands down.

Balague once said that we have a Pique version-2 in Botia... of course it's the same guy who said Ibra has been more crucial than Messi for Barca this season

Welcome to the forum!
Question is.. Where do we fit Botia? Maybe if we sold Rafa and loaned Chygo out.. Although I do feel better with a solid home product being our backup CD instead of those two.
For next season (should Botia continue playing well): Pique, Botia, Puyol, Milito. There's 2 tall CD's and 2 shorter ones. + occasional appearances from Muniesa. Would be enough of CD's imo.

I watched the first half and appart from when he made a mistake in the second half where he gave the ball to CR he didn't put a wrong foot for all 45 mins. I believe our CBs for next season should be Pique, Puyol, Milito, Botia and Chyga.

Botia should be in the first team next season period. Marc to be introduced slowly and be prepared for the season after next.
