Aleix Vidal

i say we keep him, he is more than good enough to be a backup RB. there is a massive overreaction on this forum with people calling him the worst defender they have ever seen. hes probably the worst player in our team yes, but every team has a player like that, doesnt make him the worst defender ever, ive seen worse at this club alone.

He's nowhere near Barca quality and he's nowhere near good enough to be a backup player here. Masche made mistakes against Alaves, yes, but you're really fooling yourself if you're convinced everyone has given up on Vidal just because of the Alaves match. Since arriving here he's been Douglas tier defensively and that is no exaggeration. He couldn't put in a single good defensive performance during preseason and prior to that was so bad he was benched for almost the entire time he was available, and even now he struggles to defend, no matter who it is attacking. If Roberto gets injured we're absolutely fucked and that should be a major concern.

you speak like he single-handledly cost us the match. masch made mistakes aswell, our forwards were poor, busi was poor. unless he walked the ball into our net twice, i dont see how he played bad enough for Lucho to completely change his mind about him.

No, I said I would be surprised if Lucho thought Vidal had anything positive to offer at RB after that match. Lucho keeps giving Vidal chances but he keeps disappointing with every chance, it's only a matter of time and everyone can see it.

You do realize that Lucho and Vidal have a strained relationship already after Vidal was excluded from the squad for a large part of last season when he was eligible to play. Lucho also left him out of the squad this week against Celtic after his performance this past weekend and rightfully so.

If you don't think he played awful last weekend, well that's on you. The majority of the people on here will agree that he was absolutely dreadful.

I am actually 100% sure that Palencia can't be worse in defense than Vidal. That is barely impossible!!! Christmas tree would be more useful, it would confuse wingers with lights at least!

We are basically playing without a natural right back in the squad. This lack of quality fullbacks in the current football generation is little weird. More and more attacking midfielders and wingers but very less full backs. Kind of makes sense though. Need some in-house solution for this.

Not that weird. Great players who might start off as full backs are moved to the center early in their career whenever possible in order to be more involved in their team play, as the team benefits from the best players being the most involved.

Has Lucho ever even included Palencia in a match squad?

I suppose they would have to settle the Vidal situation before they head down that road or risk problems in the locker room. At the very least training with the 1st team a bit more regularly

He hasn't. Now that I think about it, I don't believe he's ever included a Barca B defender.

This was posted yesterday but it says according to MD, Lucho thinks Vidal hasn't been training hard enough and not up to level with his teammates overall in training.

Same news a few months ago.

If it's really true then just offload him in January. To work so hard to get here and throw it away being so lethargic in training(if true ofc) is really disappointing.

Sport saying Vidal is already thinking about leaving. The news also say Lucho talked to him last week, but that it wasn't productive, and thus he was left out of the squad.

This also happened last season. I really don't get why they didn't let him go to Inter, and got another rb to be Bob's sub.
