Aleix Vidal

Come to think of it... that 3 - 4 - 3 was ideally suited for Aleix but Lucho didn't even bench him. He probably works hard in training but Lucho probably expects him to do his own research to becoming a rb. But he has been a bit wank going forward too so idk what to think of him anymore. Might be beneficial for Barca B but not for A team right now.

Trying to pin this on Lucho makes no sense. And he probably doesn't work hard on training. Vidal has said himself he was slacking off in trainings.

I'm not pinning it on Lucho. I just think physically he's training okay as that's how he's gotten so far but studying basics of defending etc are things he should do on his own and Lucho doesn't see any progress. Ofc there's always a chance he's unmotivated because he isn't no 1 RB but there's a reason for that... he's wank.

I would give him one more chance, if he continues with horrible performace I would sell him in January and buy another RB! I am sure we are already doing some scouting, bit it is really hard to incorporate a new player in January.

THe situation is a terrible one in every respect. First, he was an election ploy signing - a player who barely played at RB was suddenly brought in to eventually succede Alves. Then when you know there is an insufficient level last season coupled with a falling out with the coach, you have to resolve it. Either they come to an agreement and he stays or he is moved. The summer transfer window comes & goes and he's still a Barcelona player. Either Vidal was led to believe he had a shot at being a part of the rotation and Lucho simply changed his mind or the club screwed the pooch altogether by not upgrading that position.

Now, we have a player in the locker room who doesn't want to be here which will not lead to a great atmosphere until it is remedied somehow. Moreover, there isn't really any depth at RB unless Palencia can contribute

Interestingly enough, Bartra played RB for a while in the youth teams and for his early debuts with the 1st team

It's a lousy situation that has been inexplicably misjudged/mishandled

I say we made the right choice in trusting Roberto but we made a mistake in not getting another RB this window as backup in case Vidal ended up struggling.

I thought for sure we can rely on Vidal as a decent backup option in the lesser games to rest Roberto, but as of right now I'm not even that confident anymore that he could. we will have to wait until January to get a new RB if Vidal decides to leave.

But it does open the doors for guys like Palencia and Nili to get a chance.
