It will be a great transfer if it goes through, despite being in a area (CM) where Barca need reinforcement the least. Quality signings are always welcome no matter where they play and Alex Song is definitely one.
Still the team needs a central defender who could also play on the right (prospect of long-term Puyol replacement -why the hell are they afraid to admit that the captain is past his best?) and a top quality forward. When in the most decisive matches of the season (vs Real and Chelsea) you play with the likes of Tello and Cuenca in the starting line-up what happens is you lose titles. We need a top quality forward NOW not next year or in 2 years. You can't have Messi, Messi, Messi, scoring in friendlies, cup games, league and Europe. The player will wear out before his time. Particularly when looking at the alternatives our rivals have (Chelsea are about to add Cavani it their firepower but apparently the Barca board believe we can beat them this year by fielding Tello or Cuenca again. Sad really).
