He was never a 20M player in the first place, that's the problem. We only paid that because we're morons.

We got Rakitić for about the same amount and he's light years ahead of Song.

Song was valued at 25m euros when we transfered him, according to transfermarkt.de. And at 28,5m. a couple of months prior to the transfer.

Rakitic is a 35m. player IMO (he is better than... say... Herrera). We were lucky to buy him for around half that price. The value sometimes does not correspond with the selling/buying fee.

The Alex Song of Arsenal we got was at that time a very good player and I think he will do quite well for West Ham now as well. He didn't simply fit in, we didn't need him, but that doesn't mean that he is a mediocre player.

West Ham is lucky to have such a quality player. He doesn't suit Barca but he can flourish at any other team.

Yes. His problem was basically Busquets, so that he was forced to remain on bench resulting in loss of form. It was stupid to buy him in first pace, when we had Busquets and Mascherano for DM.

Of course Song is going to stand-out at freaking West Ham playing against freaking Ipswich Town. That said, he was never good enough to play the lone DM role at Barça but as anguy said the lack of playing time certainly didn't help.

Funny that his best game for Barça was his first one as well, the supercopa against Real Madrid.

lol, the moment cross came in, some player there tried a thunder bolt, but he miss hit and it turned out to be a pass, he then get back the ball and plays a good lob.

i wonder if that player was song.

Bit of a come down. Arsenal, Barcelona and to west ham is a bit of a come down. Don't think he'll be the player he was at arsenal ever again. To much time has passed

Alex Song (26), this season on loan at West Ham, is not expected to return next summer. Barcelona will look for a new exit. [l'esportiu]

What is it about West Ham having talents that far exceed their standing? Tevez and Masch, now Song and Zarate. InB4 Isco joins them next summer.
