I don't understand the commotion, 19 million euros is a cheap price for a player like Song. I don't understand why Arsenal accepted our offer, but I'm glad to welcome Song. He can be our new Touré, technically superior to almost every DM, has a great pass and can drive forward if needed. His forward moves can be useful to penetrate defenses, when our usual passing-style doesn't work. Apart from that, I don't think that he will drive forward as much as he did with Arsenal. Vilanova will tell him to stay on his spot as much as possible, only go forward if really needed. With that in mind, I don't think that he will be caught out positioned a lot.

dont get that frustration here. yes we didn't NEED him and it wasn't "buy or die" transfer, but Tito got what he wanted. Lets see what plans he has with him. When we bought Fab then everyone said that he will be our bench warmer, but Pep knew what he was doing.

Let's not underestimate Tito. He may have his own plans.

Im happy with the transfer, would have been better if we had a out an out CB but im excited to see what Song has to offer and what plans Tito has for him.

Welcome to Barcelona.

£15 million for song at the age of 24, another fantastic signing in Rosells reign. :)

People complaining about the price, wtf do you want for £15 million? lol.

I largely agree. What I have seen of Song have impressed me. There is a lot of potential for further improvement as well.

I have heard from friends who support Arsenal that the reason why he sometimes looked out of place last season as a DM was due to Wenger utilizing him wrongly. Wenger is hardly a tactical genious so that would not surprise me at all. Hopefully that will be adjusted once he starts playing in our well-defined system.

Worth noticing is also his great fitness level. He hardly misses any matches. Not sure how he performs as a CB but he did well when used there last season, apparently.

Having said that there is obviously a possibility of him becoming a "Hleb" or even better a "Yaya" or something alike. Anyway we needed reinforcements on that position and I fail to see many useful options out there.
