Alexis Sanchez

I'd still like to see someone counter what I said previously. Put any of our playing full backs (Dani, Alba or Adriano) in his position and they'll deliver more goals and assists and will put in same effort off the ball.
Or some here still believe Alexis is/would be more effective than any of those full-backs.

I'm not sure what to make of your post, Rating is subjective, There is no 'True' scale to follow.

I think you got it backwards, It's you that have to provide the evidence for your claim, Since it's a hypothetical claim you're talking about, Not us looking for a way to disapprove it, You're assuming that it's already true.

Despite this it isn't even hard to "disprove". Pep played fullbacks upfront a few times and we looked shit every time with that approach. Most noteably against Villarreal away last season where we had Adriano and Alves upfront. It ended 0-0. Bombing forward into space from deep and starting out wide where you already have a defender on your neck before accelerating is not the same.

Doesn't even have to be hypothetical so scratch that. Adriano and Alba are both already scoring more than Alexis.
Funny and tragic at the same time.

We played Adriano upfront against Madrid and he almost got a penalty by taking on Ramos and forcing him to make a mistake. There's an example for you.

Ramos is a phenomenal defender, and I would take him at Barca over any centerback other than Thiago Silva, but he's still an idiot.

And I never said Pique wasn't an idiot either.

If you never take on defenders like Alexis/Pedro you will never force them into making mistakes however "idiotic" the defenders maybe. Just pressing and doing defensive work will not cut it at the best club in the world. Adriano/Alves can do that+ be a goalscoring threat. Heck Alba has scored more than Alexis playing at fullback

Sanchez has been taking on players constantly, today especially. Alba only scores by sprinting by the defense, getting a pass from Iniesta/Villa and smashing it in. Sure, he's a great player, but if you stick him on the wing he won't be able to do the same thing. But yes, I would much rather have Alves or Alba playing wing than Pedro on current form.

So he came on in the 77th minute when the opponent's defense had tired legs and Barca threw everything forward to chase the game, then he dove in the box and didn't get a penalty, didn't score and didn't assist and this is your example why we should try Adriano upfront from now on? Great idea. No, really. It's almost as great an obvervation as people who think Tello won't be gone next season based on his 10 minute cameos when he comes on in the 80th minute and outpaces his fullback. We might even give it a try next season once Adriano is out from the hospital.
