Alexis Sanchez

So he came on in the 77th minute when the opponent's defense had tired legs and Barca threw everything forward to chase the game, then he dove in the box and didn't get a penalty, didn't score and didn't assist and this is your example why we should try Adriano upfront from now on? Great idea. No, really. It's almost as great an obvervation as people who think Tello won't be gone next season based on his 10 minute cameos when he comes on in the 80th minute and outpaces his fullback. We might even give it a try next season once Adriano is out from the hospital.

Adriano has been used out wide many times and is about the only player that could play there that would be comfortable cutting inside on his left foot. Other than Messi who wont play there.

Almost every other wide player Barcelona have on the right is too easily defended and the opposition just stand off them and let them go down the line knowing they wont want to cross the ball.

Bojan is so right it's disturbing. Every single one of our fullbacks is a better finisher than Alexis (hell, every other player in the squad is), all of them can put in the same effort, they have good pace, and can basically do all he does, and much more.

We played Adriano upfront against Madrid and he almost got a penalty by taking on Ramos and forcing him to make a mistake. There's an example for you.

Of all the examples you could have chosen, you picked that one? The one play in which Alexis was a big part of? The one in which he set up Adriano?

Sanchez in current form may be worse than our wingbacks, but in his best form he would easily beat out the most offensively talented right or left back in the world.

The thing is that all this drama is over ONE miss! Had he scored, or had Dani scored in that assist in the last minutes, you could bet your ass many of those who are complaining now, wouldn't even had shown their face on this thread, and the rest would be singing a whole different tune...

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve SOME of the flak he gets, but the amount of hate by some posters is ridiculous, same thing going on in Cesc's thread, it's like some people are just out to get them...

Haha.. How ironic is that

I really hope it is ironic and that it was a honest mistake...

We probably won"t see the best Alexis till second half of next season, if you ask me. There's been improvement, confidence wise as already mentioned. More succesful dribbles, intensity, penetrating runs, more involvement: notice how others are more keen to play him the ball, this because he is getting more cemented. But he still lacks composure, to do the easy things like a simple pass/assist, more alertness and tactical discipline, even more team understanding. This tiki-taka thing needs to become a secondhand thing to him. It's gonna take time for him I fear, and most don't have the patience. Maybe the team will. Who knows. He will get there I sense, but it will not be overnight. Sure you could argue he has had enough time, and there's nothing wrong with that statement, but if you ask me patience and support will be keyfor him, he already has the hunger and earnestness to make it. This team is a feat for any great player, not any less for an up and coming young blood like Alexis.

Not bad today, got fouled a dozen times. Should of finished his chance in the box though or at least make the goalie or defender clear it off the line!

It's not just "ONE miss" though is it.

I am not one of those fans who was hoping he would fail so they could prove their point.
I DO want him to succeed.
I was actually willing to give him a chance up until today. But he is showing that he is not deserving of that chance.
Don't get me wrong, Pedro is not performing to standard either.

Alexis does get in some REALLY good positions and his movement is excellent.
But his END PRODUCT is awful. This isn't being over judgemental, it's just calling it as you see it.

Yes it is over one miss...

I hate to be that dude and resort to dick moves, but in your last post in this thread before this match, you were praising his 1 goal and 1 assist and labelling it an excellent performance... And now he misses ONE shot and you came with bold letters to claim how you lost patience for him and stuff...

All I ask is that people get a grip and judge the player fairly... Was that miss awful? Yes! He needs to improve and be more consistent? Hell yes! Did he play an unacceptable performance vs. Rayo? Definitely no...

He didn't do too badly today but let's be honest, he couldn't score in a brothel.

As for those who think he will come good as the season progresses, how long do you keep the faith ? I hate posting negative comments but the contrast between him and Villa converting chances is like night and day.

That's right! I will praise a player when they have a good game. I will equally criticize a player if they have a BAD game.

Since you have done your homework on me, you will also have noticed that I thought he should have started the home game against Milan because of THAT performance. However ...

My reaction to Alexis' performance today is not me acting on a whim. Alexis will have to have a MARKED improvement til the rest of the season if I am to change my mind about him.

In the "Shocking Miss" from TEN yards and the counter-attack when he had at least 3 players in the area to pass to and F***ed it up, told me everything I needed to know about him.

That he WILL NOT make the grade at Barca!

Now I could be proved wrong. And If the day EVER COMES, you can then come back to me and label me "DICK"!
