Alexis Sanchez

It's not even his misses, that's an overly simplistic argument to point to...He's not a goalscorer and I knew this when he was signed, I thought he could become one...But his lack of confidence is palpable

I think he started out the match fine enough but as soon as Leo & Villa scored and were thriving, Sanchez seemed to retreat into a shell and look to serve others rather than join the fray...Part of that is the mentality of being a forward which Alexis is not, he's clearly more of a midfielder and we've seen him do well there as he's a terrific passer...But he poses no risk attacking the goal from defenders and with that, defenders can adjust accordingly...I thought that aggression we saw in the last 3 matches where he seemed to want to prove something faded throughout the match...Consistency has never been there and he has done this on occasion where he shows glimpses of what he can do - he simply can't put it together consistently...And it absolutely looks like something mental

I'd be shocked if he's still with the team going into next season, 2 years is more than enough time to 'fit in' and even Afellay fit in sooner than that...Best to move him and recoup as much of his transfer fees as possible...Doesn't mean Sanchez is rubbish, just that he doesn't fit into this team

you really must be kidding there. he was very stiff in comparison to other players we have. the transfer fee aside i will always prefer Alexis in BARCA than Afellay. but then i will never forget his assist in the CL semi.

You have nothing other than your gut telling you that since the few times Afellay played, before his knee injury, he did well - including his performance in the Clasico...By comparison, Alexis has been here more than twice as long

I don't hate Alexis, I feel sorry for the guy. What he's going through must be nerve-wrecking. I hate his diving, I'll admit that. Anyways, there's no shame in not succeeding at Barcelona. The criteria are mind blowing. He should find a club that suits him on a mental and tactical level and do his thing there. I want him to do good, just not at the expense of Barcelona doing worse.

Doesn't even have to be hypothetical so scratch that. Adriano and Alba are both already scoring more than Alexis.
Funny and tragic at the same time.
Flawed logic?, Being a full back and a winger are two different things, I think 'Ursegor' pointed this out, Bombing forward into free space from behind, Is different than having an opposition player breathing on your neck, The overlapping of our full backs are dangerous because they are unmarked and surprising, A winger doesn't have those luxuries, In fact he's the one providing them for the full backs, If alba and adriano scored their goals by being wingers, Then i'll happily agree with you, But they didn't, That doesn't mean he's a better finisher than them, He isn't a goal scorer by nature, But it means they simply can't do the job of a winger better than him.

The thing is that all this drama is over ONE miss! Had he scored, or had Dani scored in that assist in the last minutes, you could bet your ass many of those who are complaining now, wouldn't even had shown their face on this thread, and the rest would be singing a whole different tune...

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve SOME of the flak he gets, but the amount of hate by some posters is ridiculous, same thing going on in Cesc's thread, it's like some people are just out to get them...

You feel sorry for a multimillionaire? :rofl1:

I thought he had improved vastly over the last 4 matches. Keep it up.

I agree. Might have scored yesterday but other than that he looked pretty sharp. I'd keep giving him a chance in the league especially. I'd say two out of the front three places are tied up for the important games, one of Alexis, Pedro or Tello need to put a run of good performances together.

I think that's wrong. The guy cares. For example you could see how upset he was when Puyol injured his shoulder a few months ago...

He plays better than before... I wish that he will stay at Barcelona next season because I feel that he has a great potential and he can destroy everything (don't forget that he's just 24) and I wouldn't like to see this out of Barcelona.
