Alexis Sanchez

He was never a big goalscorer at Udinese. He had 15 for us last season so people believed he was decent in front of goal however it's simply not the case.

el chilenito the problem with Sanchez is that he does not replicate his Chile/Udinese form with us. As te amo barca has said he does not fit into our team naturally. He is forced to receive the ball too high up the pitch and as a result he struggles to beat his defender. He also seems to lack confidence. The pressure really gets to him. I still think there is a slim chance for him but he really needs to turn a corner quickly.
I think recently he is excellent. Nobody can deny his progress. And I dare say if he can keep the form vs Milan or Rayo, he deserves a place in our team.
However, I'm afraid that "the place in our team" will be winger/midfielder like Pedro. I can't see in him potentials of a finisher like Villa. Should we play Villa-Messi-Sanchez?

Right now that is my preferred lineup as I think Sanchez has been better than Pedro lately and Villa should start every big game we have left this season. If Snachez can take his game to a new level before the season is up then there is hope.

Doing so is a big 'if'.

You are right that he does not have the potential of a finisher like Villa but he never did even before he joined. He just needs to beat his man like he used to at Udinese, stop slipping and finally provide better passes. If he does all that consistently then his poor finishing 'may' be over looked. Messi and Villa scoring goals is enough as long as they have a strong enough suppporting cast. Sanchez needs to become a key member of that supporting cast

That's true, but then again, even if that happens, why should Barca settle for a forward who's not a scorer when they can invest in one who's a natural scorer? Just because they already bought Alexis?

Well I guess if Villa and Messi are scoring and Barca are winning while Sanchez is playing it could be a case of 'don't fix it if it isn't broken.'

Also if you look at his Udinese record it is clear he was never a prolific scorer so surely the management bought him knowing he wasn't a natural scorer? Perhaps they just wanted someone to provide width and assists. Most teams only play with 2 consistent goalscorers on the pitch at any given time.

I think it was more a case of being seduced by his one good scoring streak in Udinese, rather than knowingly buying a forward who's not a natural scorer.

Since he arrived at Barcelona he's scored the same amount of goals as Pedro despite playing over 1000 minutes less.

Sanchez is also very good at positioning. He easily can intercept the ball, his workrate on the pitch is awesome. Everybody knows about the off the ball movements, but few notice his persistence, zeal, eagerness. It's the player who always works on 200 %. I love watching him playing, let's wait until the end of the season..

Is that supposed to make Alexis look better? Only shows that both were bad during the period and how Pedro suffered in form ever since Alexis joined.
In the end Pedro is our home boy and proved his worth in the past while Alexis was supposed to be the next Ronaldo and was paid more than 30 million euros.
Take your pick.

It's not supposed to make anyone look better, it's what has happened. If Pedro can't perform with depth in squad, then it doesn't really look good on him either.
