Alexis Sanchez

At Barca our Wingers play as Forwards (Wing-Forwards). They are not there to cross the ball, they are expected to score and assist goals. We do not play our Wingers across the midfield, like, say, Man Utd do, in a 4-4-2.

He had an assist against Depor and Milan, and would have an assist against Rayo too if the finishing was better. Consistently providing assists, combined with hard work and fantastic movement off the ball and the odd goal, that's actually a very good player. You can't expect every player to be a star and Sanchez does a lot of the dirty work. If he starts banging in goals as well then all the better.

Ask yourself this: What if we weren't already ahead and comfortable?

In that case the Sanchez and the team as a whole would have maintained a higher level of performance.

Just rewatched the Rayo game. Alexis was damn good in the first half then somewhat disappeared after the break. Still his best game this season

The same feeling. Alexis in the first half was awesome, dribbling like Iniesta and defending like Pedro. However, in the second half he seemed to panic at scoring. However, we can't judge player based on their best moments.
Does Alexis have the ability to replace Pedro? Maybe we can have a stronger, faster Pedro then.

Tbh, I'd say the Milan game was his best game of the season. He got a nice assist and I believe his goal was onside (might wanna check the replays again though).

You might be right. But the goal was offside... no matter what he is doing better the latest games.. he doesnt slip so much and he still works hard. His first touch has improved again but his passing is the main problem despite his awful finishing.
Imo he has performer better or "luckier" than pedrito in the last games

alexis sanchez is more of a creator than a scorer.

i think the sooner we realise alexis sanchez is not a goalscorer the easier it is to appreciate the hard work and assisting goals he actually provides. chile lost against peru 1-0 a couple of days ago in a match that was obviously rigged, 2 clear penaties not given, alexis sanchez in that game played so confidently, his passes were slick and amazingly accurate, his trapping of the ball was sumblime, his dribbling was spot on, he is much better being a provider than a scorer, i posted before commentating on how i watched sanchez in his udinese days and what amazed me the most was not his great dribbles but his passes and ability to pick out a pass even with his back turned, his link up play with isla and di natale back in udinese was breathtaking to watch. this season he has contributed to 9 assists with only 4 goals. the fact of the matter he plays most comfortably making passes and assisting instead of scoring. here is a clip of some of his passes in the peru match, it matched messi/iniestas pass range. and this is only a couple of his highlights from the first half! appreciatate sanchez as a provider not a scorer, dont worry about sanchez not scoring, we have villa and messi for that, sanchez can provide the assists or hold up the ball for the others, plus he always leaves the opposional defenders on their toes and drags them away.

u're right but honestly everybody who posted in this thread said it million times. We know it, but Sanchez is not for our football.

He was never a big goalscorer at Udinese. He had 15 for us last season so people believed he was decent in front of goal however it's simply not the case.

el chilenito the problem with Sanchez is that he does not replicate his Chile/Udinese form with us. As te amo barca has said he does not fit into our team naturally. He is forced to receive the ball too high up the pitch and as a result he struggles to beat his defender. He also seems to lack confidence. The pressure really gets to him. I still think there is a slim chance for him but he really needs to turn a corner quickly.

Inter will be a good decision for both sides. We can receive 15-20 m. from this transfer and then finally buy a CD/Neymar :D.At least in Inter he will be given more space to explode, that's surely.

Depending on how he does for the rest of the season, I think we should keep him for now, since we have the money to fill our needs, as long as Villa doesn't leave. I believe we'll have a 50m transfer budget this summer, which should be enough for a CB and GK. He's shown promise lately, and we don't need really to buy anyone else if Villa doesn't leave (which I doubt he will if he's given playing time, especially in the CL games).

If Villa does leave and/or we want to make another transfer though, I suppose we should go ahead and sell him.
