Alexis Sanchez

Well, it's a fair question. At Barca he was averaging 1.1 dribble per game, consistently struggling to beat his man. It was one of his weak points which he said so himself:

Alexis: "I'm happy with the goals I'm scoring, but I still have to improve my dribbling." (16.02.2014)

Suddenly he has 3 times as many successful takeones (3.4) in the EPL. Bojan in England has more successful takeons than Neymar, Isco or Iniesta. In fact it's the first time in years that Bojan resembles a competent player. Can't judge players in such an amateur league tbh. :eusa_think:

Suarez himself said the defenders in La Liga are built to take on fast technical players after decades of being hammered by the likes of Messi and Ronaldinho. EPL is all about strength which is why the Defenders are more about muscling balls off those burly strikers they have over there.

Players like Sanchez and Aguero and Silva are playing better in Premier league than they ever did in la liga, and people still believe that EPL is a better league ??

In terms of competition, EPL is in fact a better league. Ppl often confuse the fact that RM/Barca having the best players does not mean that the rest of 14 (?) other teams offer good competition.

Question: Aside from Atletico's last year, when were the last 5 times a team different from those two won the league?
Answer:

2003–04 Valencia
2001–02 Valencia
1999–2000 Deportivo La Coruña
1995-96 Atlético Madrid
1983–84 Athletic Bilbao

I'm surprised that ppl still don't understand the fact that stats are a direct consequence of team tactics.

Unfortunately Costa has been the best player in England this year.

If you judge everything by scoring then players like Iniesta and Xavi would have never competed for Ballon D'or

This is indeed correct, but defense is just one side of the story.

It's not that, it's that EPL defenders and La Liga defenders have adapted to stopping the "average" type of forward in their league. Like DinhoR10 said, different styles flourish in each country. England is all about extremely fast wingers that play in the "kick and rush" style, and tall muscular target men like Heskey, Andy Carroll, Davies, etc. Decades of coaching that mastered the art of stopping the 4-4-2, the route-1 counter attack with the winger hugging the by-line, crossing it to a targetman who puts it in the net.

Throw a technical player in there, and they wreak havoc. Defenders second-guess themselves, over-commit and foul, or just fall flat on their ass when a dribbler ghosts past them. Someone like Suarez or Alexis will get opportunities in the EPL they wouldn't get anywhere else. Similarly, someone like Bale or Ronaldo that were built for the premier league and rely on athleticism and speed, will out-muscle and outrun most Spanish defenders.

That's an interesting theory but anything thing to actually back it up? You use Bale as an example for your argument, but (so far) he has been far less effective for Madrid...

There are a lot of players who have gone from La Liga to EPL who have done extremely well and been heralded as amazing (many technically gifted players who were predicted to "struggle with the physicality" LOL) but there aren't many who have gone from the Premier League to La Liga that I can think of?

What's with all the hoo-ha? He didn't score when he played at Stoke's ground this season so he's automatically not good, don't you know the barometer for the EPL already? Stoke away at somebody else's ground is to be ignored, obviously.
