We're basically into March and I can confidently say I was more impressed with Alex Song in his first season at Barca than this guy.

Yup. He was donkey style DM that new his role. Song > gomes and cesc > arda in terms of first season impressing.

I don't think it's a coincidence the team found form after he was left out... Sadly he doesn't fit.

It's a sad state of affairs that Lucho giving up and deciding to leave is what was required for him to not only drop Gomes, but alter the system.

I can only imagine his reaction now that he realises how good we are after those changes :lucho3:

As soon as gomes is dropped. The team start winning. Maybe Messi is right once again!

Messi said something about Gomes ?

A single players was responsible for lackluster display of a whole team?
That's the most ridiculous scapegoating i've ever encountered, And i've seen my fair share, WOW.

Yeah well, Gomes isn't lucky enough to be from La Masia, talk about get out of jail free card... The team has found it's form because the ridiculous BobRB experiment has ended and Iniesta has been benched.

Not just on this forum though. Media has been ripping him to shreds for quite a while now. + the boos in Camp Nou.
He's shown a lot of character where many would've faltered. Respect

So it was Iniesta's fault, then? Gomes doesn't fit, doesn't matter how many can think it's about "scapegoating", because it's not. Some players fit, others don't. Like Cesc, who was also from la masia, also didn't. And was as much as criticized as gomes is now, so your theory is really bs.

But it's not, there were signs of Roberto's failure at right back early in the season but people didn't want to see them. I mean let's be honest here, Douglas was far better RB than Roberto currently is.

Iniesta doesn't currently fit the team at all, should he be booted? No, but should he get benched? Hell yes. Gomes is just an easy target to aim your anger at, give him another year with another coach and stop spewing this selling shit instantly.

Edit: And to play your game, we scored the winning goal versus Atletico when Iniesta and Roberto went off and Gomes came on, coincidence? I think not.

Roberto was being criticized all the time for playing rb here. It was pretty clear it wasn't working. And no, Douglas isn't a better rb than Bob. He doesn't even play at rb for Gijon. Iniesta is in a patch of bad form, after his serious injury. If he was completely fit, he would fit the team like a glove, as he's always done.

And a solo goal by Messi(in the same minute Gomes was subbed in, btw) has everything to do with the change in play, surely. The team improved in the course of 3 matches without him, it's not a coincidence. Gomes is slow, always a step behind. He doesn't fit the team, the same way Cesc didn't. And Cesc is a much better player, and even fit "better" than Gomes does.
