I feel like we always lose points when this guys is playing. Can someone provide some stats that shows how many games we have won and lost with him on the pitch?

Your feeling is correct, we lost 12 points in La Liga this season with him as a starter. It's baffling really that Vidal was sent to the stands by Lucho after few poor displays and yet Gomes got to play in toughest matches again and again even though he was horrible.

Lucho is almost forced to play him as he's the one that bought him for £30 million otherwise he'd wouldn't keep playing him.

Whoever watched him and thought he'd be good for us is a braindead idiot and needs to be sacked asap.

I've seen some flops in my time but this one is up there among greatest we ever signed. He has nothing, not one quality we can use.

What is everyone's obsession with him?, A punching bag to vent out your frustrations?
He was okay today, And offered no less than a fresh raki or iniesta, Which by the way, They made no difference to the match, And the only reason denis remained is because LE needed someone as LW.
Be objective.

Offered no less than Raki and Iniesta on a day where almost every player was unsuccessful and practically nothing went right? Lol, ok.

That's a useless observation to make when most players were within the same realm of shit in a certain game. Iniesta/Raki didn't offer much today but Gomes offers nothing on pretty much any given day. That incredible lack of positive credit he's built up despite having plenty of chances to do so is why he gets flamed much harder than a legend like Iniesta ever will, or Rakitic for that matter. He offered no less today, but would he offer no less against PSG when we needed a historic comeback? Or a crucial Clasico? No, not even close. Which is why the argument that he 'happened to not play worse than Iniesta/Raki today' will never function as a defense of his mediocrity.

Not that he should be subject to the same scrutiny we'd give to a potential starter; the notion of him ever becoming one is likely long gone. I just happen to also think we'd be fine/better without him as a squad player too. Grooming potential gems like Aleña is far more important than tolerating Gomes' shitshows every couple of games against scrub teams.

He's a far worse version of Fellaini.

Even Alex Song was more worthy of wearing the Barca shirt than this guy.

It's sad how myself and a few others can state even before he steps on the pitch for us that he isn't made for Barca. It's no surprise he offers nothing to the team. How in the world a scout, or even the coach, can think he can become a successful Barca player is beyond me. NO redeeming qualities. Not a single one. The worst part about it is how he just simply jogs around; just painfully slow and useless. Was Barca going to make him something he is not?

Awful.

I cannot believe someone in Barca pointed to this guy and said "he is good"....and just to think the price paid for him...

Why can't you imagine that? They are simply bad at their job or judgement or I'd rather say they were perhaps mislead by a bad and lucky Portuguese NT winning the EC, so they thought the guy "must be" good too if he was more or less a member of the winning team.

Are these staff members much different from the average folks in this forum? No, because when myself and some others kept on continuously saying that Gomes doesn't have a single mentionable quality as a player to qualify him to be in this team (not to mention him as a regular starter), at least half of the forum sages called us "haters" and the like, simply because just as the bad staff members, they are simply unable to judge the potential of a given player by just watching him a dozen times.

Sociometrically speaking it is okay that 50% of fans are unable to judge a boy after couple of trial games, but the pro-staffers should never misjudge a player like that.
But they did, and do, which unfortunately will result in either sticking with the horrible Gomes boy or selling him for less than the half or what the club has spent on him...

I think we can agree that this signing wasn't made for sporting reasons... I believe is a well know fact that the board just wanted to out-sign RM and pretend that was a strike of genius...

Lucho wanted him.

They wouldnt sign a player just to get one over on Real if he wasnt wanted for footballing reasons. Makes no sense as just makes look like Real dodged a bullet more than anything if not good enough.

lol what? Fellaini is a completely different player, he actually uses his body to outmuscle others and his height to win every header, you would think Gomes could atleast do that but he just doesn't.

Yeah that's my point. At least Fellaini can do something useful.

Gomes on the other hand is completely useless. He can't even use his height for anything good.
