Needs to go at the end of the season, end of. If the board has any respect for the fans they will..

Can Barca sell Gomes in the middle of the season? Cuz I v just heard recently that players can be bought during this period as long as they r within La Liga. If that's possible I d like Gomes to go as soon as possible and then the board can bring home a better replacement to fill in the midfield!

That's only in case of an injury like Vidal's. Can't buy or sell during the season.

there was a thread on barca subreddit where people rightfully criticized him and his transfer because of his poor performances and obvious fact that he obviously is not good enough for barca, that thread got deleted and there is a new one where everyone patronize him, really weird

There is rightful criticism and then there is name-calling. The deleted thread was full of the latter and it is not constructive at all. How many times do we need to hear people say he's "shit." We know he's "shit."

He says "look. Look André, look."

I'll kick start things by giving my perspective. I'm firmly on the side of patience. I don't think he's been great at all, I think he slows down play, is way too scared to bring the ball forward, opts for the easy pass, and sticks out like a sore thumb in the midfield. However, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for two reasons.
First, it's hard to settle here. I've made this argument before, but it's true. Henry, Suarez, Villa, Alexis, Alba, Sergi Roberto, Mascherano, Fabregas, and Neymar have all been players who have had good to great spells here, and all of them took half a season to a full season, or more in the case of Alexis and Sergi, to reach their highest level. Most of these players were also much more experienced than Gomes was when he was signed. If these players came good with a little bit of patience, so can Gomes.
Second, these problems are not unique to Gomes. Rakitic is having his worst season so far. Busquets, who used to epitomize consistency and reliability, is having the worst season I have ever seen out of him. Everyone wants to see Denis but after his promising start to the season he's slowed down. Rafinha has been good but hasn't quite gotten back to where he was prior to his injury. Iniesta has been absolutely brilliant at times, like his appearance in the Clasico, but is also clearly showing his age and is increasingly inconsistent. If everyone else in the midfield was brilliant and Gomes was terrible I'd be concerned, but this is a near universal problem for Barcelona midfielders this season. Nobody is playing to their level. Gomes has been singled out for his price tag and consistent play time but how can we blame him, when he's in a new team famously difficult to adapt to and nobody around him in midfield is playing well either? Chances are his confidence is in the dump, which would explain a lot why he isn't decisive and opts for the safe lateral and backwards pass. Confidence is a footballer's wonder drug, and maybe when he gets some he'll show something he hasn't shown yet.
Patience is a virtue. We didn't spend that money without doing our research, let's give him a little bit and stop blaming him for whenever we play poorly. We didn't play any better against Depor when he came off.

The post above is from the r/barca mod who removed the old Andre Gomes criticism thread for the toxicity that it brought. I think he makes some solid points about Gomes.

Not one of the players he mentioned in his list of examples of players who "Struggled to adapt" were ever as bad as Gomes is now, though, and that's with me intentionally ignoring Sergi Roberto as the mere thought of a born La Masia midfielder struggling to adapt at Barcelona causes Cruyff to roll over in his grave. Like really, Alba struggled to adapt? And Neymar? And Suarez? If this guy really thinks any of those players were this terrible this late into their first seasons I'd have to wonder if he's even been watching all these years. And finger pointing is rarely a good excuse for a consistently bad performer. So what if Busquets or Rakitic or Iniesta have been poor this season, Gomes has been worse, and every single one of our midfielders has more standout performances to their name than the 0 Gomes has.

Come now, surely Gomes has some standout performances. You can standout for playing badly you know. :antonella:

I'd say Alexis was certainly about as bad as Gomes is now during the 12/13 season in terms of impact, but at least the guy showed heart.
