Lucho and Robert both were supposedly huge fans of Gomes.

It seems like that for sure. However a pro staffer cannot be mislead by the picture of how a player performs in a mediocre team compared to playing with Messi, Neymar, Iniesta, etc.
Someone like Gomes, who needs that much space to fluently control the ball, will never ever be able to play with the Barca starts, because his slow movement just represents a very different style of playing. The staffer should have seen that, if you can, if I can, if most of us can, thus even if I try my best to find an in-service reason to buy him by these pros for Barca (for the value of an entire small team) I simply can't find any.

BTW, the same stands for poor Alcacer and Arda too...
Okay they have a fruitful relation to Valencia, appreciated, but that shouldn't have resulted in cultivating a Gomes as a starter in this team. That's simply ridiculous.

Notice how not even serghei comes to this thread to defend him now? It's that bad.

But we're all wrong, if he wasn't quality Madrid and Barca wouldn't have wanted him. :coffee:

That's a shitty argument. As if Perez and the Rosell/Bartomeu administration don't have a history of stupid decisions. Look at the money the former blew on Kaka, Illarramendi, Danilo, etc. I don't need to talk about the latter. At least Perez knows how to sell

I have a hard time believing Madrid were even in for him esp with the amount of midfielders they already had. I do not trust anything that has ties to Jorge Mendes. He has puppets in Madrid papers. Maybe he was trying to bait the club with rumors to spend and spend fast.

Every game with Gomes as a starter ended badly! He s kinda got a failure aura around him, just not enough quality to play for Barca! But still, Enrique got no choice cuz he needed to rotate and rest the other guys! This is the board s mistake for bringing him home at the beginning! I thought Gomes could be a decent "bench warmer last 15 mins come in" kinda guy but now I want him out so bad! Now what Barca need is more creativity in midfield, someone that can replace Iniesta like Veratti cuz 2 more years or one more injury to Ini and the Barca midfield ll be brutally exposed! Messi can do well and help with that but I d like him to play closer to goal cuz a 32 yrs old Messi is still a much better finisher than Neymar or Suarez....or Cristiana!

What does Mendes have anything to do with though?

When we go after a player our club has to ensure that he is been scouted multiple times and meets the approval of both the sporting director and manager. This is all on them. If our senior management wasn't full of cowards, the Barcelona Sporting Department would be feeling immense pressure for their jobs right now.

Gomes is quite possibly the worst Barca signing of the century when you correlate how much he costs to what he produces on the pitch.

Mendes recommended us to sign Bernardo Silva. Should have listened to him and signed him instead lol

The STATISTICS of Gomes

20 games
0 goals
0 assists

Games in which Andre Gomes has featured:

58% wins with Gomes vs 72% without
25% draws with vs 20% without
16% losses with vs 6.7% without

http://www.sport-english.com/en/new...ics-that-haunt-barcelonas-andre-gomes-5893537

Our win rate is higher while our draws and losses are less without him.

But yes, keep playing him...

Don't think that these are true. I remember an assist for Suárez vs a yellow dressed team (Villareal, Las Palmas??) and also a won penalty. So possibly at least 2 assists for Gomes, maybe more. Not that I want to say that these are great stats, but poor researching by the guy who wrote this article.

Yes I recall him having an assist at some point too. I think he has 1 to his name.

Didn't Gomes assist Suarez yesterday?

No, the the ball that fell to Suarez was a block that came off the defenders foot.

You're welcome
Hmmm...seemed to me like the ball came off Gomes' and Deportivo players legs simultaneously, or Gomes passing it while getting deflected off the Deportivo player.
