How incredible is it that our own La Masia players have to "Prove" they're worthy of being in our squad (Presumably from going on loan, since playing well for the B team apparently isn't enough) even if adding them wouldn't cost us a thing, but a mediocre level of hype and a large transfer fee is good enough for anyone to be a near starter no matter how shit they perform every week? Imagine if, for a moment, Samper came back and actually played well? Would everyone shit themselves because he wasn't starting for Granada? Even if he plays poorly he can't possibly be much worse than what we've already got, except unlike Denis, Gomes, Arda, etc. who have all been various levels of awful he wouldn't have costed a dime.

You are also ignoring that we went through a golden age that made promotions from La Masia much less necessary. We could easily afford not to promote players before when we had the best midfield, attack, etc. but now we're lacking big time in those areas. I'd easily replace Gomes with Alena and/or Samper. Hell I'd even give Kaptoum a chance. There's no reason why Gomes should stay, none at all.

That golden era idea is false when you look at the way Pep approached la masia when he didnt think any of the defenders were ready.

Defenders that were playing at a higher level than some of the players people want given a chance today.

Samper didnt look ready for step up at all and although Gomes not been good enough it doesnt change that.

The two players Lucho did try to promote that were average in Munir and Sandro folk by and large just moaned about them and the state of the squad anyway.

1-Gomes was signed because he had proved himself somewhere else,in a bigger club than Granada, proved himself enough to have Barca,Juve & RM going after him
2-Gomes right now is a player who is under contract at Barca. Samper is a player under contract at Barca. What was paid for Gomes has been already paid, I want this team to win and play great football. I don't care about the whole La Masia fetish people have. If we La Masia get us gr8 players like Iniesta and Messi it is great,if we sign young professional player (16 or more) like Puyol,Munir and Busquets it is as great. Samper hasn't earned the right to kick any player for him. niether his performance with Barca B nor his performance with Granada say that,if he came and proved he deserves a place then it will be made for him. Right now to just loan a player like Gomes to make room for Samper shouldn't be the case.

Young players dont get the chance to prove themselves in first team squad. They have to have shown something to get to that point and Samper hadnt.

Iniesta and Busi forced their way into first team squad they were not just put there to see how they got on.

Samper wasnt denied his chance for Gomes either. It would have been someone else if not Gomes and Samper still not in squad. Probably a better player but still Samper wouldnt be there.
