André Gomes

Why are people asking Gomes this? Who the fuck cares anyway? He can't do anything else than give the polite, neutral, "get out of trouble", answer. Like "both are amazing, and I'm privileged to have the chance to play with Messi and Ronaldo" or something like that.

It's just media looking for controversy. Luckily Gomes is smart enough not to give them a chance to create that.

He was used as a DM against Hercules IIRC. We received 0 goals and we scored 7. I think every player did at least a good job. Some of you guys have unrealistic expectations.

Mou, res!
They have unrealistic expectations because of the pricetag, that's why.. See the hating train on Arda, Gomes, Paco

I think realistic expectations are indeed related to the price-tag, specially when almost day by day you are able to see talented youngsters here and there, who cost 5% of these mediocre guys you mention above.
Sorry to say, it's anything but a "hating train", it's simple objectivity toward their capabilities, which anyone can see. It's not that expectations are too high, it's the easily observable and pragmatic fact that those expectation cannot ever be fulfilled (including the cost) due to the given talent of theirs.

Hercules lost to Barca B. Not a close game, either.

Who cares how many we scored or conceded?

0 goals conceded, so he must have had a good game. Really? You guys make it sound like they were posing a threat but he successfully negated their attacks..Jeez. He misplaced a few simple passes yet again, he didn't have any penetrative balls that I can remember and I remember 2 occasions where his decision making was slower than what is expected from a Barca player.

You do understand that he was played in a position he is not used to, right? And stop making it sound as if his passing is poor because he has the best passing percentage out of our all midfielders in CL. How do you explain that according to you he missplaces so many easy passes yet his passing success ratio is at about 97% against the top teams in CL?

If anything people could say he maybe plays it safe too often, hence his high successful passes stats, but then again most of the creative roles in the team are down to MSN and Iniesta. So maybe it's not too bad he keeps the ball moving and does few mistakes. Only problem I have so far is that he needs to think a little faster than at Valencia because the space is more limited. Other than that, he plays pretty much like a very good young player plays in his first season at a huge club. It's not a matter of him not delivering, it's a matter of people expecting unreasonable things from a developing player.

I'm really happy for him so far because even if he didn't do extraordinary stuff, he clearly belongs on the same pitch with our great players. It's just a matter of keep improving and see which are the parts in his game, good or bad, that will be there during his whole career, and which are the parts that will be improved with time. So far he clearly won't ever be a fast player, but several great things are there, like for example the ability to find a safe pass at more or less any moment, even under pressure. Outside of his slowness, which is vastly exagerrated with petty adjectives like "turtle slow" or shit like that, I don't see any reason to not be optimistic about Gomes.

And I really can't understand Barca fans who hate on a player who chose us over Madrid. Fans should love this dude.

But, but, he sucks... you're clearly not watching enough Barça games if you think he's anything good. :) We should sell until we'll still get something for him.

Agree. He brings nothing to attack at all..

We can't rely solely on Iniesta to start every attack from midfield.

The guy is playing just like he did at Valencia. Its delusional to think he'll improve greatly in the years ahead. He is what he is. Simply not Barca quality and we should cut our losses ASAP and not wait until he'll become worthless.
