The Don played the key pass that opened up the Italian defense to score the crucial opening goal. That one pass alone made him contender for Man of the Match. You can look at the MotM as the player that played the best or also as the player that had the biggest influence on the outcome of the game. The rest of his performance was supreme though. He also did 2 'dribbles' just in the first minute of that video. He was also subbed off and missed the last 7 minutes of play which would have reduced his stats. Fortunately the beauty of football is far beyond what can be put into numbers.

Let's not kid ourselves. Pedro Leon could have done the same. OPTA says so.

Yes clearly the run and layoff Fabregas made there was all also Iniesta. Xavi made more in the game, affected the outcome of the match more, and was all around better player. And this all is easily backed up by the statistical assesment. It doesn't take away the fact that Iniesta was MoT, at least for me, but you have to be pretty big fanboy to say pre assist to first goal warranted MoM.

If would have been an absoloute travesty if Iniesta won it ahead of Messi and Ronaldo. Disgusting decision even.

Hey I think Iniesta was in with a shout, I certainly wouldn't have been unhappy if Iniesta won it, you sound rather bitter about it, as a Barça fan you shouldn't be like that or are you more of a Messi fan?

I'm not a Barcelona fan, and Iniesta had absoloutely no right to win it. Bar a decent Euro's, he did nothing to be considered better than Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Andrea Pirlo had a far bigger shout than Iniesta for what he did with Juventus and Italy last season. In the eyes of one too many journos he can do no wrong, just look for the European Player of the Year award and the recent Ballon d'Or voting. I'd love to know why so many think he should have got it over Ronaldo, let alone Messi. It's bizarre.

If you're referring to the absoloute disgrace of a match in 2009, Ovrebo is the one that won Barcelona the match, not Iniesta.

The douchebag Ovrebo almost cost us the final by sending off Abidal. Thankfully Sylvinho was a beast and Iniesta ripping through United's defense after 10 minutes settled the game. Even with an injured leg trollololol. Come on, he actually did you Chelsea fans a favour. Your lot would have lost again against United anyway.

Also several other anti-barca calls, such as the Ballack handball (but that might have been in the first game) and the Drogba dives.

He won EPotY because it was held so shortly after the euros, where he was the best player in the winning side and arguably the best player of the tournament (I believe he was, as he outshone Pirlo both times they faced).
