Tests on Andres Iniesta's knee this morning revealed that there was no serious injury.

Iniesta's availability for upcoming games will depend on recovery time

Andrés Iniesta, who was taken off at half time on Saturday, has a badly bruised left knee, but no other complications. Tests carried out this morning confirmed that the player's recovery time will determine his availability for future games.
Iniesta was taken off as a precaution at half time against Atletico Madrid after the knock he picked up and was substituted by Leo Messi.

Iniesta has created as many chances (3) against Atletico in the first half as all other players on the pitch combined.

If they didn't hack him down to injury we would have won. :coffee:

To be fair, the knock came on a 50-50 challenge because Iniesta let the pass run by him into Atletico pressure, rather than gather the pass first. He wasn't the only Barça player to underestimate Atletico pressure and let a pass run into no-man's land.

Yeah, I think Lahoz did very well considering the intensity of the match.

I agree. As far as more fouls by the opposition, that is true of most Barça matches, because Barça has the ball more. If you average fouls committed by the percentage of possession, Barça commits as many as its opposition.

In this game:
Possession:
31% 69%
Minutes possession (out of 90):
27.9 62.1
Fouls
17 9

AM foul rate was 0.274 fouls per minute of opponent possession (1 foul every 3.65 minutes)
Barça foul rate was 0.323 fouls per minute of opponent possession (1 foul every 3.10 minutes)

So Barça fouled about 18% more often than AM.

This is a surprise. I didn't expect Iniesta to be in the top 5. Sweet!

How cool is it that 4 current players are in the top 5!

Hopefully Valdes gets to #3. 27 games needed, let's say 19 in liga and getting for at least CL semis, that's 6 more games so 25 in total. He will need a CL final + Copa game.

I remember when Xavi got to beat Megueli back in 2011, Puyol was not this far behind him.

So it's likely it won't happen... turns out that recent injury robbed him of #3, in his last season. It would only be a few games away.

Not that it matters or anything, but still... it's kind of sad when you look at it that way. If he hadn't gotten injured, he would have had a chance to get there.

Iniesta, who got a knock against Atletico last week, is still training on his own. Barcelona B forward Dongou joined first team training.

Barça B players Jean-Marie Dongou and Jordi Masip join in session

The first team squad trained at the Ciutat Esportiva this morning following Sunday's draw at Levante. The players who figured at the Ciutat De Valencia had a light session. All eyes were on Andrés Iniesta, who joined the rest of the players and seemed to have recovered from the knock on his knee that kept him out of the Levante trip.
