Andrés Iniesta

Never did that, maybe a couple of times at the heat of the moment after a loss, I said "bad game" and stuff like that, but nothing else. Pretty shocking remark to come with having nothing to back you up. Pathetic even.

"A couple of times". I'll keep it simple and give some posts on just the Iniesta thread.

He's been bad. Been that for most of the season. Sorry, Iniesta fanboys. It is what it is.

^
(Iniesta probably had his best season since 2013)

He was utter fucking shit. So fucking tired that he keeps getting away with playing like absolute garbage all the time on here. Lost count of how many times he just passed the ball out of play and let Oblak and Atleico waste time. Get your fucking shit together!

Pathetic. Iniesta is as inconsistent as they come the last couple of season and we can't criticize him? Coming from Mr. Hypocrite that always says you can't criticize Messi on this forum because of the fanboys, but now you're being the stupid fanboy.

Guess it's only Messi who is past it after one bad game on here these days.

Must've been dispossessed at least a thousand times.

 Classic stuff on here.

^ (mocking people after they said Iniesta had a good game.)

He was bad. Don't give me that decent game BS again just because it's the Iniesta. Offered nothing for MSN to work with.

Still keeping it up with all the dangerous giveaways.

That's around 50% of your posts on the Iniesta thread this season before today. Many of them are right after somebody criticized Messi in his thread and you get mad because of that (I'm not gonna show a correlation in the timing between the posts, cba). The other 50% are talking about his beard and his injury.

I won't even bother venturing into the Neymar thread to find more quotes.

btw when you say "agree with pretty much everything here", it is natural for people to assume that you in fact actually agree with everything there.

Are you actually serious here? I don't personally think this has been a good season for Iniesta, and I'm not alone on that one. I have big expectations for Iniesta and like all others I post more if a player is playing bad than if he's playing good as there is more to talk about and discuss. What you posted is the proof of that.

Then you go on to say that my posts in this thread are somehow connected to my feelings for Messi, and I just have to laugh, sorry. The only thing those quotes show is that I think Iniesta also should be criticized after his bad performances just as much as Messi is. That has not been the case so far, mainly because of the crazy high standards for Messi that I don't like and express with those posts.

To end it off, a lot of those are written at the heat of the moment after a loss, like I said earlier. Messi rarely plays frustrating games, if he did I would say shit like that in his thread too. It doesn't have to mean anything. Many members say stupid shit we regret after bad games on here. They shouldn't be used as quotes taken completely out of context trying to throw me under the bus.

How about you just replace Iniesta with Messi there and try to think about why Messi gets criticized? Yet you get mad and start calling others fanboys on other threads when people actually start criticizing Messi. If anything, Messi gets way more support than Iniesta does. Their threads are proof of that.

Anyway, all of this is completely off-topic and started because you felt insulted when I accused you of fanboyism - and those quotes above clearly show you're not too worried about using that term against others either. Let's just end it here and move on.

I don't get mad. I just get fed up with how high the standards are for Messi on here. He can score and assist, but people will still moan about him not dribbling enough, not running enough etc. And if I call out people criticizing him it's for a reason. Just like there will be people calling me out if I go too far criticizing other players like you think I did with Iniesta. Anyway, I'm done here.

My argument is simply final 3rd related. People hark back to 'he doesn't play there anymore!' but we have teams pinned so far back that he is often in positions 20-30 yards from goal, especially when Messi has to turn back from goal out wide and circulate the ball to Andres in that playmaking position facing the goal.

His final ball/end product is poor. It's not even about goals and assists as to what he produces in the final 3rd, and the first 15 minutes he was completely wasteful 3 or 4 times. And it's been like that for a long time now. He gets in the positions but does nothing.

He has had a better season on the whole, though, especially defensively. We were so good in the first 6 months that everyone was having a good season.

Legend and all that, just don't like that people act like he (or anyone else) is immune to criticism.

MSN (and Mascherano and Pique or Bravo defensively) have been bailing out the midfield for 2 seasons.

Iniesta is offering little defensively off the ball or creatively with it. He's a pure luxury player who isn't hurting teams. Rakitic is good but slow and not a huge creator. Busquets holds it together defensively but gets swamped.

Pogba and Verratti would be a massive upgrade and we should be going all out for 1 if we want to stay on top and try and get the CL back.

the thing that worries me about Pogba is not the quality which he doesn't lack apparently, but rather the fluidity, he's not agile enough to play for a tiki taka team .. that's why i'm Team Verrati

It's wrong to judge iniesta on stats, just as it's wrong to judge messi on stats. They offer so much more. But we do have to start thinking about the future. I would prefer players like gundogan and verrati over pogba, players with good acceleration and technical ability would suit our system.

Indeed. He's far too hesitant to make that final pass for the strikers, perhaps out of fear of losing possession. That's essentially what his game is reliant on now. I'd seriously be interested to know how many chances he's created this season, even as a comparison with Rakitic and Busquets.

He's not immune to criticism. His consistency isn't the same, but his role is really different now. Rakitic also doesn't play here like he did for sevilla. Barça don't have an AM anymore. The final third is MSN's.

The final third isn't MSN, it's Suarez and Neymar. Messi has to keep dropping deep to get the ball to them as the midfield just can't do it. They're so slow and fearful of making a defence splitting pass that the front three are always heavily marked.

Compare and contrast to Real Madrid, neither Bale, Benzema or Cristiano have to drop deep because Modric, Kroos and Isco/Rodriguez all have the ability to carry the ball forwards and get it to the front three to apply the finishing touch.

With a better central midfield next season, another treble is on the card, else it's CL Semi max again (unless Messi pulls a rabbit out his arse like he did in 2015).
