Andrés Iniesta

The team played a quite "stylish" attacking football today, mainly due to Iniesta's presence and very wise play. Scoring 6-8 more goals was easily possible, and you could "feel" how much Iniesta means when he plays well.

You unfortunately seem to show little observational awareness if you are serious about his lost legs, as well as that he shouldn't play. Simply BS.
As well as we could have scored 6-8 goals, we also could have easily conceded 4 or more. Valencia, even with 10 men, passed the center of the pitch like our midfield was not there. They just needed to pass one of our 3 CMs and huge gaps appeared, and that is partly on Iniesta. Also, was Messi's magical individual performance "mainly due to Iniesta's presence" as well?

Do not get me wrong, I love Andres, but I think that this diamond mid 3-4-3 requires two workhorse center mids (Raki and Sergi) to cover all
that huge space and be defensively compact. We can mostly get away with this on Camp Nou, but I fear for our midfield vs Juve away if we play with the exact same line-up and tactics.

I think we can get away with having both him and Messi on at the same time, but it requires a serious improvement of the coherence in the defensive organization. It's easy to tell that as soon as the ball moves on the wing, then it's a judgement call who has to mark who. If the RCB has to go out wide for example, then Busi is often way to far away to drop down and fill that empty space in the center in time. It looks so shaky the whole thing.

Was that 35 mill in total or 35 mill a year? If its the latter he must REALLY love barca

35M/year after taxes. If they pay Tevez 40M then don Andres would deserve at least 60M.

But money is not the most important thing for Iniesta so I'm not surprised he rejected them. He's earned enough in his career that he and his familly will have a very good life after he'll retire. Don't know what his life style outside the football is but given his character I don't think he really overspent money on things he don't need like some other players.

Good there are still players like Iniesta out there that show those Chinese clubs money can't buy you everything.

Well I think the entire 3-4-3 is just a temporary solution until there's a real RB. You are right and this setup needs workhorse midfielders, but it's should be temporary as I said. In this area three defenders are just not enough, not safe, the entire philosophy is like back in the 50's when our ancestors said: "it doesn't matter how many goals you concede, we always have to score one more...".
This 3-4-3 needs MSN to score a lot and I think they need Iniesta to sort of make it possible. When he is fit, I could easily see him doing two more good seasons for the team.

Getting better but still not there yet. Maybe it's like the 2014-15 season where he was shit most of the time but in top form for the last 2 months.

I keep forgetting that he also expires in 2018.. Maybe when he is renewed we will realize how f***** we will be without him/with him playing less, and sign a similar-profile midfielder?
Imo, waiting for Rafinha and Denis to step up is not enough we need more quality in midfield and rather quick..

Against Valencia, he was really good, specially in the first half. Huge volume of quality feeds.
who to sign though? Ver. and Dyb not being available, maybe Riyad Mahrez...

imagine if we could sell Arda, Paco, Gomes, Rafi, Denis and sign up Nelsinho, Griezmann & Dembele. That would be fun to watch. Messi and Luisito would be able to stay upfront and multiply goals.
