Antoine Griezmann

The reason I want Griezmann is for him to play that second striker role and for Messi to feel obligated to play Suarez's current role.

Messi at his current state should be the most advance player on the team, if we play like that next season and he's still fells the need to drop back to get balls from our centrebacks then we've really got a problem.

Kane is not what Barca need to get best from Messi in my opinion.

Great player but to get best out of him need ball in box early and often, hit him early etc all things that doesnt match up with Messi all that well.

Kane is decent a pressing but thats not all that easy for him. It is why Poch surrounds him with likes of Alli and Son.

So who should Barca sign?

Griezmann doesn't play like a striker and doesn't make runs behind the defenders like a typical striker.

Messi can't play false 9 anymore, he's 31 and he doesn't have enough pace to do it.

lewandowski. maybe firmino as a cheaper and younger option.

Firmino is nowhere near a pure striker though.

Probably less so than Griezmann.

Griezmann and he does run in behind. Does it a lot.

Would rather have Griezman than Firminho. Not good enough for Barca. Griezman is Barca quality but I am just worried about opponent players shutting us down physically. I mean a front 3 of Dembele Griezman and Messi doesnt seem like a good bet against physical center back. I mean if we had prime Xavi iniesta busi giving passes sure this would be perfect but the way we play someone like Suarez is a must.

Messi as a false 9 is really the only way forward. He doesn’t have the work rate for the wings or midfield and the 4-4-2 is a horrible system.

So good options alongside Messi and Dembele in a front three would be Griezmann, Martial, Mbappé, Hazard, Bailey and God knows who else.

Only problem with Griezmann is that he is left footed, and really the club need a right footed forward for the LWF forward position.

But with Messi as a false 9, he’ll need pace, and movement either side of him, and players who can finish and create. Neymar was perfect. Dembele isn’t yet a natural finisher, but on paper is otherwise a great fit for a wide forward in Barca’s system and alongside Messi.

unfortunately there aren't many pure strikers around that can replace a prime suarez. would messi want to convert to a striker a la ronaldo? because that would mean he should make a lot of runs into space in order to get opportunities.

He cannot play in Ronaldo role. Plus he is much more efficient in the role he is playing now.

Messi as a false 9 won't work, the team will be even more predictable than now and Messi is 31 years old, he doesn't have the stamina or pace to do that.

Not efficient in the CL though.

The one time he was he wet back to RW for half a season and Barca played on break and destroyed teams.

At that point Suarez and Neymar were in form. But with the shit form our attack and midfield is in he will only isolate himself if he moves to wing. He needed to be at the center of everything to even do something.
