Antoine Griezmann

Dude, Suarez used to play behind Andy Carroll. Then he led the offensive line on his own at Liverpool. Griezmann as well was leading it ON HIS OWN before Costa got there, and is capable of playing lone striker for both Atletico and France.

It seems like you really can't think of this construct outside of a formation on paper. Griez could EASILY be the furthest offensive player in Barca's system and coexist with Messi perfectly well.

😂
Yes, against scrub teams that would be great. Against the big teams we'd look clueless again. Just passing back and forth with no cutting edge. We need a proper striker not another number 10.

No cutting edge?

Griezmann just scored two goals going through the back line of Marseille and was involved in third by opening game up with his pass to Costa.

He is not a number 10. Did you just watch that game?

Yeah I see that both Messi and Griezmann play behind a striker like second strikers.

Ok if thats what you see then go with it.

Before Costa got there Atletico and Griezmann were crap this season.

They've literally knocked us out of the UCL with Griezmann as the main striker scoring 2 goals next to Carrasco. And he was then, as he is now, pretty much still an out and out striker next to Torres whenever they played together. Simeone just prefers to have 2 strikers instead of one. Or would you have said one of Falcao/Costa wasn't a striker when they were partners?

Have you honestly ever watched Griezmann play? Cause it seems all you can come up with with regards to this is just fitting pegs in holes repeating on about "Messi false 9" and "Griezmann SS". He averages like HALF the touches Messi does and doesn't have nearly the same role. He is a final third player at his core and that's exactly what he'd be doing at Barca, only the system is VASTLY different at Atletico.

He averages half of the touches Messi does because Atletico usually has a ball possession of 30% while we have 70% almost every match.

Griezmann at Atletico doesn't play as a striker at all, did you watch today's match? Costa was always in front of him making runs behind the defenders just like Suarez does.

If he signs for Barca he signs to replace Suarez, not Messi, so he has to change his playstyle.

I also repeated many times that Messi false 9 would be a terrible idea, that I think Suarez is crap and that if we want to replace him we need to buy a proper striker like Higuain or Aguero or Lewandowski or Cavani or Kane etc.

Three out of four of your suggestions for strikers would be no good here. And the fourth is a mouth-breather that won't leave Spurs.

Costa was not 'always on front of him' and Griezmann scored two goals from further up park than Costa.

Did you even watch it?

Haha Higuain? Jesus fuck.

Lmao. We have the most defensive coach in recent history and people want to buy more attacking players!

Valverde is clueless already with Messi, Suarez, Coutinho and Dembele. Griezmann would just add to his woes!

Nah Barca had some of best possession and goals stats in Europe.

Griezmann is needed and brings a lot of what lacks with Messi and Suarez. Particualrly as a pair.
