Griezmann was ready to move to Barca and got offered 8M more from Atleti and decided to stay... where's the humiliation in this? I'm glad we didn't offer him more than what we initially did. He's an incredible futbolista but the club does have other pressing needs they need to address.

The midfield absolutely needs to be addressed and that should be our focus, invest heavily in it and we'll be back in the CL Finals. Make a big splash and get us Eriksen.

And I'm sure people would have whined and cried that we had been humiliated if we had given in to his crazy wage demands as well.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Haven't you heard? They can do no wrong.

Se Queda too was no embarrassment. Teams try to keep players and they leave, happens all the time nothing in it. It didn't become a worldwide meme that gets thrown around amongst fans of every single sport, even outside football.

That's alrite. JamDav's shtick works on most Cules who do get worked up for no reason about Valverde and so on and so forth, but he's wrong a lot of times too.

Point being, Barto really needs to go, or just not get involved in the project and let someone with some actual Cule identity handle it. DonAK summed these things up real nice a few posts above.

We needed a midfielder didn't we? Who did we try to sign first again? Or should I remind you? Marco Verratti for the second consecutive summer. What happened again? I think you know that.

Then who did we go for after Verratti delivered his public apology? Coutinho. First bid last week of July.

What happened? We had to wait until January not being able to use him in the CL.

Are Verratti and Coutinho similar type of midfielders? Nope.

Poor planning, but I guess as long as there's enough people to defend them they'll continue to roll on.

Barca have been looking to sign a CM and an more attacking AM for a while.

Went in for Verratti last summe, didnt get him then when Neymar left and Coutinho as well as AM could play LW a bigger push was made for him.

Not difficult to understand.

I have no problem with Griezman using Barca to try to get as lucrative a renewal as possible, especially since this courtship concluded in mid-June. He was never a Barca player, he owes Barca nothing. I also don't blame Barca for trying to get him, it was worth the shot and the price was excellent.

Now, both Coutinho and Dembele will have to play more on the front line together. 4-3-3 whenever either Suarez or Messi are not on the field. This should work, I look forward to seeing this 4-3-3 improve next season.

Big money is now freed up, most of which has to go to the midfield. I would prefer quality, rather than quantity. Even just one guy, if of the Coutinho/Umtitti level of talent.

Only positive from this is that Barto is gonna buy a big name CM this summer just to save face. It's probably gonna be Thiago, Eriksen won't be sold less than around 130M, Levy is too smart for our donkeys and it'll also please the locker room.

I don't care about the Griezmann transfer. Pique and Umtiti probably didn't care either, so I don't find anything negative with their behavior.

Are we confident about that now? Let's see.

I don't think the board really has much of a plan, they just care about making big attacking signings to impress fans. That works to an extent but when an area of your squad is clearly lacking, the fans start wanting players who play in a position that's needed not just an 100 million striker every year.

We did not need Griezmann, i'm annoyed it got turned into a drama but i also don't trust that we'll invest that 100mil elsewhere and instead now go for a different attacker whilst our midfield remains bang average.

Griezmann deciding to stay is not humiliating, after all he got more money and there are good reasons why he should stay. And those garbage like what his wife allegedly said about us and stuff is just noise, no need to get too pissed about it.

Griezmann being an attention seeking whore with all the stupid videos and documentary stuff has nothing to do with us either.

What is really infuriating is the manner in which Pique and Umtiti (both probably knew that Griezmann was going to stay) conducted themselves during this saga. They obviously have no shame whatsoever. They don't deserve to wear Blaugrana anymore. They have completely lost my support.

If they didn't care they wouldn't have pulled out the popcorn to get ready. I think they wanted us to lose face.

It's just sad at this point. Not being able to trust the decision-making at any level of management. Be it the coaches, sporting directors, club executives, etc.

Even if we had gotten Griezmann, would Valverde have benched Suarez as he rightfully should've been? If we get De Jong AND Arthur this summer, will EV move back to a 4-3-3 as we desperately need to do for the benefit of our key players? If we got them, would they even play? I have a good feeling Paulinho would get the starting spot, and Roberto on occasion as wide midfielders in the 4-4-2.

Can we allocate this Griezmann money well? Dunno, we've already seemed to discard the option of getting possibly the best midfielder we could've signed in like a decade. Segura is hated by his subordinates, the players, the media, the fans, and everyone. But will he be fired as he should've been a year ago? No.

Failure to execute from top to bottom. It's a mountain to climb to build a dominant team under conditions like this.
