The €200m release clause is only just for this summer due to Atleti's registration ban.

A whole year with Deulofeu on the left wing isn't gonna cut it if we want to compete for all trophies (and don't get me started on Paco).

If they can just be disciplined like Paco in the bernabeu last year we have a chance. It's just about maximising Messi's influence.

I would rather have an established ballon d'or contender next year than someone like lemar in a panic buy.

Obviously I don't want to panic buy either, but come on man, Paco or Deulo? We could use someone like Pedro who does the job, nothing more, nothing less. But Paco is no where near good enough to be a starter (and definitely not on the LW), while Deulofeu is too inconsistent and it's too big of a risk to rely on him (there is a small chance he will deliver, but is that a risk we're willing to take?).

I agree that it is demoralising but if we can't get Dembele I'd rather sit on the money until a truly top player is available.

Griezmann is 27 next summer. 100m for 3 seasons plus sky high wage and no sell-on value after those years is not a good investment.

I dont think Griezmann is as good as Suarez, not by a long shot. And I do fear the consequences of us having to replace both Suarez and Messi at the same time. Its extremely expensive to replace superstars. Thats why it should happen rarely. It wont happen rarely if we sign 27 year olds.

He's just one year older than Neymar. I think 4-5 years high performance in this market for 100 mill plus wages is fine. 100 mill right now feels like value
