Antoine Griezmann

Everybody and his mother knows that he is not gonna earn the same amount of money wherever he goes.
Even at PSG with so many transfers and high salaries given, i doubt he can get above 20m

Even if he stays (wish not) it will be on a paycut like Laporta does with literally everyone including Messi

Yes, Griezmann is not a prolific goalscorer we'd want (but we can't afford one at the moment) and he's surely overpaid but we can always count on him being available for 50+ games and have around 30 goal contributions (G+A) while also working his ass off defensively in every game. I know it's impossible for him to stay on his current wages but if he'd accept a 30-40% pay cut (in return for extending his contract for another year or two) I think we could keep him around if other amigos will also accept a pay cut and if we'll manage to offload players that are really of no use (Coutinho and Umtiti mostly) and those not counted on by Koeman eventhough I think they could be useful (Pjanić is the only one remaining after Trincao already left and Firpo being close to leaving as well). He has always expressed his wish to play in the MLS one day so even if on paper we'd extend his contract I still think he'd eventually move to America in 2023 or 2024 at the latest. But if Messi leaves in 2023 then Griezmann could also stay around as a bridge gap to younger players who will be brought to the club over the next few years to replace likes of Kun and Memphis.

It's only "working his ass defensively" tbh..

Goals and assists taken out of context can look good.
Only when you realize that for instance regarding his 19 non-pen goals and assists in LaLiga:

Only 0.42 non penalty goals per 90 min out of 0.48 non-pen xG per 90 is a shocking number for Barca standards. More shocking if you consider that he was missing sitters all year long.
With xA only 0.19 per 90. That's even more shocking: Firpo has a better xA per 90 the few times he played

Koeman's 3-5-2 was designed in such a way to allow the AMs (Messi and Griezman) to skyrocket their numbers of goals and assists.
Messi's numbers skyrocketed, Griezman's not so

A team like Barca that always wants to attack, and always faces parked buses, can't have
1) Another player that wants to occupy the same spaces as Messi
2) A player that can't dribble, make a trough ball, or penetrate a bus in any possible way
3) A player that his best offensive trait is getting rebounds from a GK save.

That's unacceptable for the level of football we want.
Tracking back defensively is a must in modern football, but that can NEVER be the only thing an attacking player does at top level.

He is not for Barca, never was a good fit.
Let him find an Atleti or France type of football and play there.

PS: Who can buy him?
I don't know.
I don't think City need him at all.
Only hope is PSG can see him as a big name to prepare for losing Mbape

i believe you and other people in here are getting things mixed up.

KDB is on 20 million GBP a season - 385k GBP a week. but those numbers are surely after tax.

griezmann is on 40 million EUR a season before tax. so ~20 million EUR a season after tax.

it doesn't make any sense for the highest payed EPL player to be on half the salary griezmann is earning.

Regardless, Man City only pays around 116m GBP a year on salaries, and there is a reason for that..... they don't often offer massive wages. And no, KDB is on 385,000 GBP before tax, so he's earning around 192,000 GBP after tax.

Man City will not be offering Griezmann more than what KDB is getting, especially due to the fact Griezmann is 31 next year.

It is false (the 116 millions wage bill) and i have already proven wrong about this subject months ago.

Just check UEFA FFP reports on club accounts. Manchester City is peaking at 300 + millions.

still seems surreal that griezmann earns double the money KDB is on.

anyway, we are the biggest idiots ever to pay a guy like griezmann that much money after also paying a transfer fee.

even FDJs salary is outrageous for the age and what he produces week in week out.

Absolutely bullshit that they're paying 300m plus on their salaries. KDB is on 385k a week, Sterling is on 300k a week, then the rest are below 150k and below 100k. They also just got rid of Aguero's 230k a week.

Why is it surreal for you ? If Barca wasn't dishing out these insane wages they wouldn't be in this mess.

Lol, so you think your spotrac sources is more believable than the Times (Ziegler chief sports director of the newspaper) or the auditing frims working for UEFA in FFP accounting ?

That 351m also includes staff.... like managers, assistant manager, office staff, agents, scouts, builders, trainers, CEOs.... etc. The players are not earning 351m by themselves. It's much lower than that.

So the players are earning 116m and the staff and all the others are earning 235m ?

Here is a proposition Barca gives you the guy who negotiates the contracts for builders , scouts , trainers etc and you give Barca the guy who negotiates contract for your players

That includes the staff as well. In terms of the players, it's much lower than that.

Let me give you some more sources :

https://www.republicworld.com/sport...ff-making-it-epls-largest-ever-wage-bill.html
http://www.insideworldfootball.com/...loss-man-city-wage-bill-streaks-past-man-utd/

And as The times article said, it was a year where not many bonus may have been activated due to Carabao cup being the only trophy won.

The year before, according to UEFA, Manchester City were already paying ?267 millions :

https://www.sportbible.com/football...20-highest-club-wage-bills-in-europe-20200116

And your claim about it being due to staff and not players wage is ridiculous. UEFA do the auditing of all clubs, so they take into account staff cost as well. And do you really want to make us think that City would pay only 116 millions for their players and 235 millions for their staff ? Txiki and Soriano are eating well then i guess.

Well... you have to understand that there is only roughly around 25 first team players.... and then there's probably a crap load of people who work within Man City like scouts, trainers, CEOs and the owners are probably on millions a year, Pep's salary, maintenance people who within the club, office staff, PR people, marketing people..... the list goes on. They have a ton of people working there.
