5 seasons ago, when they desperately needed a striker and when Morata was a lot more highly rated than he is now. Chelsea already has 3 unorthodox forward/midfield hybrids, they're not going to spend a fortune on Griezmann.

Don't think they will ever go after Griezmann either. But lets not forget before the arrival of Tuchel that the Havertz/Werner/Ziyech/Mount between either of the 3 wasn't ticking. Until Tuchel sorted the mess upfront out and decided to rely more on Mount/Havertz/Werner and dropped Ziyech.

One more point I think the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea will never go after Griezmann since those clubs have elite managers currently (just doesn't fit those clubs and also declined). There is hope though that a club like United or City will go after him if the Kane deal fails for example. ( Pep is an elite manager , but his track record of players is horrible)
