Awful deal if true.
I get that we need to get Griezmann's wages off the books, but this is an awful deal. We're making Atletico stronger by giving them one of our main scorers, and we're taking a player that's been inconsistent in the last 2 seasons. We don't need midfielders, we need defenders or another striker. I also bet that we'll still be paying some of Griezmann's salary because I doubt he's going to reduce his salary from 800k a week to 200k to 300k at Atletico so easily.

We won't be paying his salary if he's sold. It doesn't make sense.

Th 800k has been disputed and likes of Sid Lowe has said he is on nowhere near that so cant be taken as gospel either way.
If Griezmann goes and gets longer than the three years remaining and at higher salary after those three years than would if played it out can work out a decent deal for him.

Well.... I doubt that Griezmann will want to give up 500k to 600k just like that. He's potentially losing 70m to 90m over the next 3 years. It wouldn't surprise me if this is a loan deal for the next 3 years and they're trying to work out the little details like salary for Griezmann.
Let's watch this space. It will probably be a straight swap because we are that desperate.
If the Liverpool interest in Saul is genuine, an alternative we could propose be that Liverpool sign Saul for 40-50m Euros and Atletico sign Griezmann for 60m?
But then we would be restricted to only spending a small % of that on a transfer, as Tebas keeps saying like a broken fat sweaty balding record.

He would be giving up the difference after tax though not 500/600K.
If he was on 800K a week and they pay him 300K a week he is down 250K a week in reality.
Maybe he then sees that as being made up in part once his 3 years at Barca has expired.
Agree if Barca are paying large part of salary for him to play at Atletico it is a farce.

Liverpool seem to be in for Tielemans but are getting linked to every midfielder going at moment.
Wouldnt be surprised if they are not as interested in Saul as has been made out.
