On the flipside our old players like Busquets , Pique , Alba (who will all play) got a year older.

The Pique ship has sailed tbh, I think he will stay another year to get a proper goodbye with fans in the stadium and call out his career. I don't think we are counting on him that much.
Alba is a wild card here, if he keeps his fitness then we probably keep same player. If he lose it then it is bad. Busquets wasn't that dependent on speed and his Liga level is what it is.
But yeah, having 6 or 7 young players that show promise usually triumph 2 starters getting older (From Messi perspective)

Our biggest issue is defense though.

I do not agree. I have always believed that out attack was and has been since Neymar left our main issue. You practically invite teams to attack you, if your attack is not threatening enough, which has been the case in the past few seasons.

Busquest will be good if he has enough support from midfield around him. Look at how good he is this Euro with Pedri and Koke.

De Jong is on his prime, Pedri will be better and better (he is already a top midfielder). Only Saul is questionable but i think he will be OK.

Defense is big question though.

On ball Busquets is still good. Off it he is a liability defensively as was a Euros also.

Put him as lone DM and will get exact same issues as have in past few seasons.

Expecting other players to play differently to cover it all feeds into fucking up structure of the team.

I will be over the deal in a few weeks; however, I would love to see Alba, Pique, and Busquets get 50% pay cut. Roberto needs to leave alongside Pjanic, and Umtiti's contract must be terminated. That would make feel happy.

Yes and there's Messi too. We need to cover for Messi and Busi, then keep in mind Koeman is probably stupid enough start with Pique and Lenglet who are both turtles or turns like a boat.. How do you "cover" for all these weaknesses? You simply can't.
