I'd say it's OK. But we should sell Gundogan now.

If we plan to play Olmo at LW, then we are just morons.

Can't be worse than Ferran
And you can totally play 433 with no wingers. Our best team had no wingers Pedro Messi Villa
We won't be playing 4-3-3, but likely 4-2-3-1. For 4-3-3, a great DM is crucial and we don't have one.

Also, football has changed since those days. You simply need pace and pressing nowadays. That's the evolution of football in last 10 years. Otherwise you are out. Especially in cup competitions.

Messi - GOAT

Villa - One of the greatest strikers of his generation

Pedro - Incredibly underrated winger

So easy to play a system without two wingers when we have such players

Plus that Villa was not a poacher type of striker. He had superior technique that made him of great use in the wings also. Henry is another type that could adjust to wing play easily, Eto'o also played great for Inter alongside a classic 9 like Diego Milito.

That team we had in mid to late 00s and early 10s was fully of technically superb players with high football IQ. A manager's dream team really.

The point is no one was a winger, Messi was the only one who played as a winger in the Rijkaard system. Alves was our winger back then, a task not that important if you don't have Messi to use the balls.

I don't know what's the point of having African Runners at FCB in attack. I get the bench should have, but not the starting squad.
Then Olmo is not that bad to play Pedro's role, Yamal and whoever is the CF are inferior to Villa and Messi but.
But having inferior players is due to overhyping runners like Shark, Nico or poachers like Ursus and Tiger.

:)) I remember the day when Barcelona fans excused Laporta and claimed Ursus is better than Messi, or Ferran is some insane talented winger, striker CAM.
I never supported Xavi, Shark, Ursus, Tiger, Raphinha, Nico.
Not even Olmo if you ask me, but his trasfer at least makes sense and is well negociated.
Olmo can be a great asset for a working attack.
England is full of brainless runners and they win jack shit

Successful wingers:
Ronaldinho , main man, but he was unable to win the UCL without Iniesta and Larsen who carried him in the final.

Neymar was successful for a period and the only one that took UCL by storm as winger (not the main guy)

Figo, main man, successful mostly in La Liga, failed in UCL.
Henry (not the main man) successful to a degree, not a winger though.
Overmars, main man, failed
Dembele, main man in UEL for Xavistas

Alves, not the main man, was successful at it but exposed our defence.
Laudrup good but not the main man.
Messi very good, but not the main man at that time.
Iniesta quite good on the wings but not the main man.

So from all our recent history only Ronaldinho was the main man as a winger and had a great success, but him too lost the UCL final.
Wingers aren't that important for Barcelona.

Now I don't say we shouldn't buy a great winger if we have the money and he is available, but there aren't that many if you ask me and nobody is really that close to Ronaldinho or Neymar to risk our finances.
Then I don't think Nico can make our attack score lot's of goals if he doesn't score them himself, Ursus can't win duels so he will benefit more from a player like Olmo who can provide sitters.

I can agree but I will prefer to have pace for the CB, LB, RB and DM than for our inside forwards.
After all we are stuck in trench warfare most of the time and we have issues defending fast players.
I don't mind our inside forwards having pace, neither the striker but they should have ball control, dribbling and finishing as absolute needed requirements. Our team tends to have possession so pace is less vital there.

Wide players have always been hugely important for Barcelona.
We won 5 ucl and only in two of them they had a big role, but again in my opinion not the biggest role and let's not joke around, Nico isn't half the quality of Ronaldinho or Neymar.

Xavistas are very much in love with those kind of players ( Dembele, Shark) but played UEL without Felix who isn't that wide or a winger.

Anyway, if Nico scores 15-20 this season I am all in to bring him here. That means he isn't just a runner and he can improve our attack.
