Don't know, Busi tall but he's nothing most Physical dude out there.

Mascherano was a good 6 inches shorter than Busi and held his own at DM for the National team and in the EPL for years. For a team like ours, we rely a lot on tactical positioning and being able to withstand the press more so than physicality, at least with the DM spot.

That's why Busi ended up winning the battle over Yaya Toure, a decade ago. His intelligence and his ability on the ball won vs Toure's more physical build even though Toure was no slouch with the ball himself.

But in the grand scheme of things I don't see Arthur's future being a Busi Replacement though.

Busquets is almost never outmuscled for the ball that's what I mean by physicality plus his height advantage.

Arthur needs to improve his final third passing that is all.

Anyway his form has dipped clearly since Xavi compared Arthur to himself. I love Xavi but that was just unnecessary pressure on Arthur.

if you can shield the ball well it doesn't matter how big you are

messi, xavi, iniesta, mascherano, puyol all are strong on the ball despite height

Arthur is too valuable as a CM and it would be a waste of his potential just to be moved down deep as our Busi Successor in the future IMO.

I'm hoping that Oriol Busi, can possibly fill that role in the near future but considering that I was once high on Samper yeah..... guess I have to wait on that one.

Arthur brings great balance to the midfield. You can see how he was earned the trust of his teammates already to conduct.

Rakitic has a great presence in the final third with his long range shooting and final pass. We didnt see much of it last year as neither Iniesta nor Paulinho offered the defensive coverage. I am happy to see that Arthur also gives us a less restricted version of Rakitic.

As for yesterdays game, Rakitic with a yellow was the obvious sub. But perhaps Arthur is having issues with playing 2 games a week and 90 minutes each game. I havent seen the stats but he seems the player covering the most km during his match time for us (excl the fullbacks).

If thats the case then I prefer to have 70/80 minutes of Arthur for now every game with Vidal closing against tired teams. If memory serves me correct, LE also had Rakitic as the workhorse first sub man too.

It’s mad that he’s become an automatic starter for us... and rightly so. Didn’t think Valverde had it in him.

Does anyone know if Arthur is nurturing a back injury?

I saw him sort of crouch down and then place his hand on his lower back against Rayo and last night vs Inter.

Lol EV was right you guys dont know what you want. First you complain Arthur isnt playing enough now that he has started every game you are complaining that he is being subbed off to give him some rest.

And then you all wonder why our managers don't last long here. Or why top managers don't come here.

why subbing him whats the reason to give up the midfield every time !

Because he doesn't has the legs yet to play that much. Due to his class and the way he walked into that team people tend to forget that he played in Brazil 6 months ago. European football is physically more demanding, especially when you play many games in a row vs very good teams. He runs a lot and works hard for the team.

It will take Arthur a season to get used to the physical demands.

and proper diet. They had to fix his diet as well. It will take time to get used to new standards he has to live up to.
