Arthur

Well, I’m going by the official definition of what an assist is and not one you made to fit your statement about Arthur leading the stats.

But fair enough

Lol. There's no official definition of an assist. It is not a concept defined by FIFA in Rules and Regulations.

They probably don't count a pass that led to a penalty as an assist. Even though it is, as it's the last pass made before a goal.

Arthur has good assist statistics this season. That makes it even more unfortunate that you feel need to fabricate the numbers to his benefit. I have been accused of twisting stats before, but this is simply another level of desperation.

A pass that leads to a scored penalty is NOT an assist. You would have a better argument if you tried stating the player that won a scored penalty should get an assist. Either way it does not matter what you think and you cannot use your own interpretation to alter objective statistics.

Be better mate.

I was reading forum and chat during a match on Saturday, so I wasn't listening closely to what a commentator is saying.
But he said something like: Arthur is a great player, but like majority of Brasilians, he likes to party too much.
A commentator mentioned some recent scandal with partying and some photos (were they late at night? I have no idea) and how Valverde didn't like Arthur partying, especially since he already has problems with his fitness.
And that this is a reason why he wasn't called against Valladolid.

I have no idea who is the source of this story and whether it is true, just saying...
Arthur went from:
Dortmund 90 minutes
Villareal 90 minutes
Getage 90 minutes
Inter 90 minutes

To:
Sevilla 65
Eibar 71
Slavia 85
Valladolid -- rested
Levante 66
Slavia -- rested

Partying, weaker physical fitness, a drop in form.

Seems to be that the club isn't happy with some of his decisions. Partying with Neymar 48 hours before a game, travelling with the national team for some meaningless friendlies.

I can understand the anger about partying with Neymar. However, it didn't seem to be a problem back then since he played 90minutes against Getafe and Inter after the incident.

Shit, I've been busted by the stat Police for planting fake evidence.

Stat worshippers should at least stay true to their role on this forum and don't trash talk the midfielder with the best offensive numbers this season.

 Some serious lynching on Arthur by the stat guys.

Suspiciously, they haven't mentioned anything about assists since Arthur is leading with 5.

Last year they couldn't shut up about assists and how Arthur only had 1.

His stats till now reminds me of Dembele from last season.
Poor matches, scores a goal=stats looks awesome.

His play in the attacking 3rd is only slightly better than the last season and his game is still full of backpasses, ballhogging, slowing down the game, passing to a nearest teammate and bad passes in the attacking 3rd.
Masked by a good pass (assist) here and there.
Midfield is even more chaotic than the last season.
Midfield is MIA in almost every away game, which wasn't happening in the first 2 EV's seasons.
Our overall defending (where Frenkie and Arthur are helping a lot) is worse than ever in EV's 3 seasons.
His physique and stamina already reminds on the 2nd part of the last season.

I have said a few weeks ago, just wait until any player plays more and 10s of bugs and obvious flaws will surface.

I am glad that more users are lately posting some doubts about Arthur.
Because a hype, alibies and pushing a head into a sand regarding his flaws are reminding me on Dembele on this forum in his 1st two years.
1. Sport was attacking poor Dembele and inventing bad stories about him "for no reason"
2. Suarez was yelling at him for no reason
3. a lot of teammates said remarks about him
4. EV was dropping him or subbing him all the time
Yet people had alibies for everything. A team is not moving, he has no one to pass the ball to, Suarez is dumb, EV is dumb, Sport is inventing stories.

Arthur is a nice player to have in a team.
A guy with some good areas and a guy with some really poor areas.
But you guys are acting as if we are watching a reincarnation of Xavi, lol.

In this moment, he is by far the most overrated player by our fanbase.
Dembele was no1 in the last season.

Now, on larger samples, I don't think that a current Arthur's season is any better than the first season.
The only difference is that some stats (Assists and 2 goals) are now on his side.

At the end of the last season, he dropped to a 5th place in the pecking order (Busi, Raki, Vidal, Alena, Arthur).
EV tried a lot of new things at the beginning of this season, due to a pressure of fans and the board.
But if Arthur will continue to play as bad as he did in the last 5-6 matches, I wouldn't be surprised if he'll lose a starting 11 spot again even to grannies Vidal and a goner Raki.

In the first 2 EV's seasons, we played boring, sterile and static.
But except matches like Anfield and a few of big matches, we weren't outplayed by Mickey Mouse teams.
In the last 3 weeks, with Frenkie-Arthur midfield duo, we were heavily outplayed in midfield by mighty giants Slavia Prague, Eibar and Levante.

You guys will offer 100s of random excuses before you will finally point fingers to 2 new players in midfield who are also responsible for an extremely chaotic and all over the place midfield.

Lol, BBZ all this time you used stats to justify good or bad matches from players. A common theme for you. Like literally tying a bad thing with a stat and nothing else. Now you're telling me a player can have bad games while having good numbers? Careful there, if you leave stats out and get into a discussion about tactics and such you're way out of your depth.

That was my first post in this thread in over a month.

I praised him for his performance against Osasuna and haven't posted anything negative about him since then. Lad obviously isn't perfect, but he is better than the other options we have right now and I am satisfied with his attacking contributions for the time being.

The only user still criticizing him regularly is BBZ. Don't lump me in with other users to further your narrative.

 This is just comedy gold right here. Thanks Serghei my old chum, I haven't laughed as much at a post since Villarubi described Dembele as Annorexic Lukaku. Brilliant stuff.

Really, don't you know statistics sites disagree about these things often? Some sites even have saved shots and goals scored from the rebound as an assist for the shooter.

That is why the numbers differ a bit depending on the site you use for referrence.

He's been poor since the national break where he travelled a lot. Before that he was good. A player doesn't change from good to average in a week, even with Valverde as coach.

Something happened during this time.

I agree with you but something is fishy here. I know Valverde is an idiot but it's really surprising to see him on the stands 2 times in the last 3 games. There is some kind of a problem with him for sure. Maybe he isn't training well, maybe he has problems outside of the pitch but something is definitely not right. One thing is to bench him and another thing is to send a player who was our first midfield choice (together with Frenkie) on the stands 2 times in one week.

It would be impossible to reach any conclusion by Valverde's decisions about squad lists. We must wait and see.

You have to remember that along with Frenkie, he is the most loved current player in the team.
So, whatever he does, will be overrated by 200-300% and whatever he does bad, will get alibies like: EV, the whole team is bad, he is surely injured etc.

Now, try to look at this video, and try to imagine that a guy on a video is Paulinho, Rakitic or Gomes and that he had EXACTLY the same game as this guy on a video.
Honestly, replies would have been: a cancer, a pure shit, dogshit, S E L L, give his minutes to Puig/Alena and guys who deserve them.
Isn't it?
Now, please watch this video and for a few minutes, try to imagine Paulinho/Gomes in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyUpwr8KGL0

And he has been playing like that since Sevilla's game.

That game was not so bad from him and it wouldn't warrant "a cancer, a pure shit, dogshit, S E L L, give his minutes to Puig/Alena and guys who deserve them" reactions about any other player in my opinion. I can't speak for everyone here of course. I get the hype and the exaggeration and all but the simple fact is that he has shown a level at several instances this season, that is absolutely world class, which shows that his ceiling is pretty high. That is what all the fuss is about.
